We are all in the same situation I guess. Cannot take the cars out for a run to warm everything up etc so what are people's thoughts about just starting up the cars @ home say once a month without a good run? I have always been lead to believe that it is not really a good idea just cold starting without a decent run to circulate things but of course we cannot do this. Better to just leave the car locked away or start up & run the engine for a while?

As I thought it may be the last chance to take a pleasure drive for a long time, I gave both TR's a run of around 30 miles on a glorious Gloucestershire day that felt there was not a care in the World. Did the runs solo & talked to nobody! A couple of great drives with both cars perfectly on song, weather great but an awful situation hanging over all of us. Take care everybody & stay safe & well.

Green Spark Plug company. Usually quite good for spares but when I quoted the item you suggested on EBay they said it would not fit! I will try the one from Intermotor. If it fitted yours it should fit mine!

Hi Roger, Just been in touch with Green SP & they say that switch does not fit a Tr4/4A! I am now a little confused! Moss do a metal one 13H3735X & Rimmers only do the plastic thing 134529. Can you give me the part number & supplier of the metal unit you have successfully fitted? Regards.
-
My Tr4 has the mechanical switch fitted as my 4A so the previous owner must have done the modification. On that basis I assume the better quality metal switch will fit either car.
-
Just a thought Roger. Does that switch fit all TR4 as well as TR4A? Didn't they change the switch type during TR4 production?

A similar business, Thornley Kelham here in Gloucestershire, are usually looking for similar people.
-
Exactly what I was going to buy tomorrow Roger! It was just that I had a spare tatty plastic switch in the spares box & needed to fit it quickly in order to do the drive out! A new quality item will be fitted ASAP.

Pay the extra & go for the quality Timken bearing from a proper bearing supplier. If we keep buying this cheap rubbish we will get what we deserve. Just replaced today yet another stop light switch supplied by Moss which lasted a couple of months! Just junk! I bought my Timken bearings a couple of years ago from Bearing- King in Sheffield @ £48.

Are there any plans for a similar design window sticker?

Sorry Mick & Roger! We are talking about the same good stuff!

Classic oils of Bicester do a good 20/50 with the correct amount of ZDDP. Good friendly Company. I have gone to their oil from Millers as it was getting silly price wise. No difference in pressure or amount used.

After all the publicity these 2 people & their awful Company have received over the past year or so I am astonished that anybody failed to note their swindling ways & actually did business with them! They were highlighted months ago in Traction! Speechless from Gloucestershire.

Both cars were the products of a disintegrating or disintegrated British motor industry & both as awful as each other in my opinion, so it matters not!

I myself always have favoured the spike anti theft system! Car seat only recognises the owners rear end & on failure to said recognition a metal spike rises up through the seat! Perhaps also best to have the wife's rear also on the recognition list!
-
Nice photos Tim. Interestingly you have a TR5 rear valence. I have the same on my TR4 fitted by the previous owner & with a reversing lamp on the near side & a red fog lamp on the offside. A good modification & mine & yours the only 4's I have seen fitted! I guess there must be more.

Recently had a tip on Rainex from a Motorsport friend. Put on a good application & if possible leave on overnight or a long while before polishing off. More fife time apparently.
-
It has always been set to quite hard @ the front & softish @ the rear but recently the car seems a little bumpy. Could be just me or the state of the roads I have been on recently! Just wondered what settings others might be using.
-
Does anybody have a recommendation for a good starting point adjustment on rear Spax shock absorbers. I have them set to quite hard on the front but am unsure what the best setting might be for the rears.
-
They were into TR5 production in 1968 Phil!
-
You should be able to quickly see Roger by looking down into the engine compartment.
-
Put them on Ian, they will look great!

Chris, I have had negative on the fronts (between 1 & 2 deg) since having the car & driven around 20k miles with no real uneven wear on the front tyres. Have just replaced with a new set so will see how these wear. Not really a problem as due to mileage covered my tyres tend to get 'old' before worn out! A little stuck with the camber as on a recent full alignment check we found no shims present on one front so could not therefore reduce shims (& camber), so just made sure both sides matched.
-
I have 1 deg negative on the rears & 2 deg negative on fronts with an anti- roll bar fitted. Car seems to run ok!
