  1. This was a Triumph Publicity car used in the film “Break in the Circle”. I was the second owner after Triumph disposed of it.

Surprisingly I could fit in it, in fact we travelled across London one night four up with my missus squeezed in behind the seats and one sat on the passengers lap.

    Stuart.

That brings back memories Stuart. In 1964 my wife, my friend who was 6’4”,  his petite wife and myself travelled from Penzance to Camberley in my TR2 to attend the first ever International Dragfest. My friend had a BN1 so that was out of the question. My wife drove up as far as Exeter with my friend and I sitting on the boot, feet in the cockpit behind the seats hanging on for dear life to the hood sticks. We couldn’t pick the bugs out of our teeth until we stopped. The rest of the way we all squeezed in the car without the roof up. Coming back however, the heavens opened so we all squeezed in with the roof up until the coil packed up at 3am in the middle of Bodmin moor. Happy days, I think!   You wouldn’t get away with it now!

  3. From 1999 my wife and I regularly attended the Revival. Without doubt the early years were the best. The crowds were smaller and comprised mainly of enthusiasts, before it became the place to be.

for the last few visits were were lucky to find a B&B in Chichester, just a couple of miles from the circuit, which is run by a lovely elderly couple who don’t inflate their prices for the Goodwood weekends. Unfortunately one year we couldn’t attend so offered our B&B booking on the forum. DonH grabbed it and now we can’t get it back!

the photo is of my wife gatecrashing the TT one year.

Unfortunately she really didn’t have the talent.

  4. Recently I had occasion to post a GoPro battery door in a small Jiffy bag. It weighed almost nothing but because it would not fit through the post box slot in the PO they charged me £4.61 for 1st class delivery. It took 10 days to arrive!  I also recently sent a 2kg parcel by Evri for £2.65 which arrived in 48 hours. How the Royal Mail is going to survive unless it sorts itself out is a mystery to me.

Magazine 345 is  on the web site under members area but I can’t get it to open, I can get all the magazine front covers up but none will open on my iPad, I’ll try again tomorrow, or just hang on for the magazine.

Trying to access any TR Action online magazine via iPad takes me to eBay or some other recent page I’ve used

  6. We used to visit the Rugglestone when you had to leave your car in Widecombe and walk to it. The lady who ran it used to wear very frilly Laura Ashleigh type dresses with wellington Boots. She stood behind a serving hatch and only sold Bass and wines. She didn’t have a spirit licence. Definitely no food!

the last time we went there, the field opposite had been opened up for parking and there were numerous tables. Progress maybe but it had lost it’s charm.

the other great pub was the Drewe Arms at Drewsteignton when Aunt Mabel was the licencee. The same family had run it for about a century. The 75 year old nephew who again served through a serving hatch told us proudly that unlike the Rugglestone, they had a spirit licence. When Aunt Mable died the brewery wanted to change it to an eating house but the locals protested and I believe raised the money to buy it. We’ve not been back since but I hope that it’s still unspoilt although I doubt it.
Below, my wife and my much missed best friend and TR4 owner enjoying a Bass at Rugglestone in the 90s.
