  1. Hi All, The speedo on my TR4 recently stopped working - went crazy then doesn’t move. I’ve removed it from the car and there is a lot of oil where the cable attaches to the back so looks like the PO has overoiled it or used the wrong oil. I’ve taken the speedo out of its case and removed most if the oil and a short test drive shows it’s working again. However before I fully assemble it, I wanted to get some advice as there is still some oil sitting in the dish which houses the magnet. Should I endeavor to remove all of this (was thinking to spray with carb cleaner) or is some needed?
  2. I had similar symptoms on my TR4. In my instance the cause was an air lock in the cooling system. This was solved by removing the lower hose from the water pump, filling the hose with water and then quickly reattaching to the pump. There may be other methods but this worked for me. Myles
  3. Hi Rob. It seems the stud is not loose but just spinning. I guess the threads must have stripped when they tried to remove the nut. They told me they weren't going to use the airtools to remove the nuts so nut sure how this happened, although the car is new to me so maybe it was already an issue on the car... Myles
  4. Hi David - Unfortunately the car's got an original set of ARE mags on it so really want to keep the wheel... I was thinking maybe to do something similar to what you suggest - undo the other wheel nuts and try to apply some pressure from behind with a long pry bar or similar to give enough friction to undo the nut. Although I fear that the reason that the stud stripped in the first place is that the nut may be corroded to the stud (although doesn't look like it). I'll have a go at it over the weekend - at the moment the car is booked into a place recommended by the tyre shop to h
  5. Hi Jerry - not this one, it's one that needs a special profile to undo, but doesn't spin normally. Thanks Peter - would that stud pull through the brake drum or does the shoulder have too big a diameter? Myles
  6. Hi, I took my new TR4 to get new tyres and one of the rear wheel nuts is spinning…. It also happens to be the one with the special anti-theft wheel nut on it. What is the best way to deal with this? Is drilling it out the only option? Can I access the back of the stud with the wheel still on…? Maybe I could grind off the back or weld it to the hub? Any suggestions gratefully received! Thanks Myles
  7. Hello Bit of a strange question however I would like to mount a cigar lighter in the hole in my TR4 dash where the washer pump sits. I have installed an electric washer and have relocated the switch for this to the radio panel so the old push pump is now redundant. The idea for the cigar lighter is to power a GPS, iphone charger etc. I had bought one off ebay but it was slightly too wide and although I "modified" it to fit it could be done better. I would prefer not to modify the dash as I may want to return the car to stock later on. Has anyone had any experience of this and know of
  8. Hello I have a recently purchased surrey backlight seal which I bought from Moss (part of the new batch I think). The screen I am currently trying to fit is a perspex one. The guy I have asked to install it says that the seal is about 4 inches too long. So I am wondering, is the seal really too long, is he fitting it incorrectly or is this a function of the perspex window? Has anyone experienced this before and if so, how did you solve it? Thanks Myles
