  1. I have a pioneer under seat sub in my 6, but it’s behind the driver’s seat at the moment, waiting for the new carpets to be fitted. Then it’s going to be properly mounted against the rear of the seat well. Sounds great.
  2. In the same general topic - as it looks like I’ll be continuing with the chip paint and rattle cans for now - is there a specific paint code for the flat black on the rear of the car (and the windscreen surround)?
  3. Thanks all. Any personal recommendations on body shops in the Northamptonshire area? I’ll ask the local branch, but may as well ask here too.
  4. Ok, I know that’s like asking ‘how long is piece of string’ is, but I’m looking to the near future what I’ll want to get my car resprayed. It’s not something I’m geared up to do myself. My car’s paint is ‘hmm OK’ but there are countless chips and nicks (and some worn areas around the doors) that I’m slowly addressing with a chip kit, but even my best efforts still show. I’m probably going to look toward having her done over the winter for next year, but I need some idea as to what I need to budget for. I need to run it past SHMBO for final approval etc.
  5. Andy - where in the boot did you put the sub? I have a small flat ‘under seat’ one that is currently behind the drivers seat - which is ok, but not very period looking. Nor is it very very secure from a theft point of view. I was thinking of upright against the rear boot card, but not sure. The cards are just cardboard after all.
  6. So I was out in the garage this evening, fitting some new boot cards as the old ones had seen better days… and found this: What I had thought was the original pump is in fact a filter, and it looks as if someone has home brewed their own ‘Bosch style’ fuel pump set up. Now I’m not expert, so I’ll ask the hive mind… is this a lash up? I don’t see anything that looks like a pressure release valve. As far as I can tell, it’s tank > filter > pump > t-union > engine or return to tank. I don’t even think there’s a relay driving it, as there’s nothing around the pump, and
  7. I found an old Motorola 114. No new old stock, but in good condition. I gutted it and created the frankenradio. please excuse the filthy mats and tired carpet. I also printed a phone mount that fits into the ashtray aperture in the dash. It’s an apple magsafe one, so it charges my phone whilst it’s on there and the phone connects to the radio via Bluetooth. Worked a treat on the way to and back from Stonleigh on Sunday.
  8. My 6 has the original fuel pump by the looks of it. Mounted in the boot. it seems to be *very noisy* when the car is turned on, but not running. Obviously when the engine is running you can’t hear it as much over the noise of that. My marlin had 2 fuel pumps, a low pressure one to feed from the tank to a swirl pot, and then a high pressure one from the pot to the fuel rail - and you could barely hear them. Is this normal? Or an indication that it’s on its way out? (Which wouldn’t be surprising as everything appears to be original factory fit on her!) Next question is I’m putting
  9. Good idea, a bit of a bodge, but no one will know but us (and the rest of the forum).
  10. Yes, according to the paperwork I have from the DVLA and the Motor Heritage people it’s a ‘72 car. I guess that means that some time in it’s past it’s had the rear end repalced… something I wasn’t aware of. Hmmm.
  11. Hi, I’ve retrofitted all the lights on my 6 for LEDs. All well and good, except I have the bumper mounted rear plate lights and these… They don’t look standard, the way they’ve been ‘bodged up’ with two rubber gaskets on each, cranked down to get them to squish and seal. But the holes for them look very neat and tidy… they’re wired into the main plate lights in the spare wheel well. The left, pictured is a genuine Lucas part, the other is a replacement made by a different company. Does anyone else have these? If so, what do I need to do to make them look a less ‘meh’.
