Hi, does the bar fit to the chassis legs or the bumper.? I dont have a bumper as I prefer the look without...thanks jeff

Hi Roger, south wales unfortunately..I know the original tool is quite expensive for a one or two use application..(I will buy a new hood at some point) and there is a cheaper alternative available but my patience is being stretched with this car and cant afford too many mistakes! ( live and learn!) So dont trust myself with a scalpel in case I use it on myself.!!..

as my hood doesnt fit my car I have bought a brand new mohair tonneau cover with lift the dot fixings that need to be fitted..having read up on it ...as you do ! I have discovered that you need a fixing tool that cuts the material making the fittings easier to fit..would anyone have one kicking around they would consider selling.. I cant take the car anywhere at the moment to get it done as it is an american import..nearly finished rebuild, and it needs to be registered before it can be used on the road but would like some sort of weatherproofing in the meantime.!, thanks

Ok, thanks for the replies, very helpfull..it would appear that my frame must be bent and the hood fixings are wrong so I might just have to bite the bullet and replace with new..some saving up to be done!! I must admit that this forum has been a boon for me and it is appreciated..thanks again

just when you think you can see the finishing line on a rebuild something comes up and smacks you in the face.! Is there any difference between a tr3a hood and frame to the earlier cars or am I finally loosing the plot with this car?..the 3a was bought as an incomplete ,imported restoration and came with loads of bits which,I have since found out, have been a mixture of correct and incorrect parts for earlier vehicles...who knew that the doors and trim were different..me obviously!. anyway,I have the same issue with the hood and frame. Just will not fit any which way..if anybody could shed any

just trying to find the last couple of bits to finish my car. Looking for a decent set of arms and blades for my 1960 tr3a a door check and passenger side door mechanism..probably need loads of other bits ! If you have any please let me know the cost and location.thanks

Brilliant thanks for the replies. Not sure I like moss's price tho!

My tr3a body off restoration is slowly coming together, but finding parts at a decent price has been a real headache! Its an american import and I bought it as a rolling chassis with lots of boxes of bits so having had no previous experience of these cars , finding out what I had and didnt have has been a steep learning curve! Anyway, what I am in dire need of is the screws and fittings to hang and secure the doors..the hinges seem fine so just need the screws..there seems to be quite a few required!. Would any of you chaps be able to point ne in the right direction? I have asked questions ab

Thanks for the help guys, I can now see a way forward! Much appreciated

this might seem a strange question to all the die hard tr sidescreen owners but....how on earth do you fit the windscreen on to the side brackets and how do you fix the brackets to the car.! I have a 1960 tr3a which was in bits and not now a million miles from being finished but I cant figure out if there needs to be some sort of spacer between the brackets for the dzeus fittings to turn and does the windscreen frame need to be splayed at the bottom to slide over them?..I have brooklands aero screens fitted at the moment because I like the look of them but want the option of fitting my hood f

That looks lovely.!.thanks for your help..I will give them a call monday.

Hi Hamish, thats great thanks.not a million miles away from me either....any chance of a photo of your finished bonnet?. My car is jaguar brg and has now got aeroscreens which I will fine tune when everything else is done !..I am going for the no front bumper look with spotlights but also have a spare pair of rear overiders I might try to fit on the front...I just think a louvred bonnet will add something.!

my tr3a rebuild is slowly coming together but after attending the Malvern show and seeing what some of you guys have done to your cars I have come to the conclusion that I am going to steal some ideas on the way mine looks.! To that end I would like to have bonnet louvres on my car..can anybody recomend a place that could do those for me as its way beyond my skill set..! I dont mind travelling to drop the bonnet off as long as its not a million miles away from me.(monmouthshire). Thanks in anticipation..jeff

I think that settles it then..a Wosp high torque seems to be the easiest way to go albeit more expensive.....I had a long nose type on an early mgb and it was constantly getting stuck even after being rebuilt ..thank you ever so much for all the information guys..its much appreciated ..just need a decent fuel tank ,seat runners, carpets, enthusiasm ,etc etc.etc... !.still a fair way to go but I have a very talented friend(at least he was until we started this.!) Sorting out in which order the bits fit.!
