Many thanks - it gives me an idea of how I can proceed with my 3 wire Nippon Denso alternator.

Why are E & F connected?
-
Is that with the guts removed?
-
I bought an alternator and mounting kit from Bastuck Co Gmbh which is a Nippon Denso 40A version (310COMP) which has 2 spade terminals and the 6mm stub for the battery supply. The mounting kit is one machined shaft which fits to the original mounting points. Their instructions say to connect the ign warning light and the ign switch wire to the spade terminals as shown on picture. They also show how to bridge the regulator, although it's not very clear even on the proper document, but I will probably remove it altogether. The Moss conversion instructions shows joining the ign wire, the battery

Thanks Bob

Does anybody have any experience of the Dynamator offered by Tudor Car Parts? It's about the same price as a full alternator conversion kit from Moss but has the benefit of looking standard and consequently, isn't any nearer to the manifold than the original. Keith

Thanks for the info Chris. I'll see what's available

Hi all. I'm looking at replacing my dynamo with an alternator. I will probably buy the mounting fitting kit from Moss but looking elsewhere for the actual alternator. There are plenty of 17ACR versions around but not many left hand units. Can anyone confirm that it is possible to use the 17ACR unit and rotate the front bracket to make it left handed. Keith

Thanks all for the input. Found the stop this morning as advised on the horizontal bar fitted to the adjuster mechanism. Released bolt and moved adjuster and all is well now. Regards, Keith -
Driver's window doesn't wind up as high as passenger side

Hi Roger, From the schematic I assume that it's bolted to the rear runner #78. I'll check that tomorrow in hope. Keith -
My '65 TR4A driver's window doesn't wind up as far as the passenger one. It stops about 12-15mm from where it should (checking against passenger side). It also drops below the top door seal - again unlike passenger side. When I wind it up there is a 'clunk' from what appears to be the rear of the door but I can't see anything that is stopping it from going further. |The fact that it goes down further than the passenger side leads me to think that something has been assembled incorrectly but the main mechanism is non adjustable as far as I can tell. Could it be that the winder mechanism is
