Hi, at some point after summer i will be attempting to install my new 2nd hand dash i picked up at Stoneleigh. At the same time i would like to tidy up the control knobs and bezels - it is a bit of a mishmash atm. I have a quote from the TR shop for the missing knobs (windscreen washer and choke) so i just need to make sure i get the correct bezels. I saw this choke bezel on Ebay; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204338046499 Does this choke bezel also work for the other instrument knobs or are they different threads/sizes? The windscreen washer works in its current form (thank you Stuart!

i was mis-sold a hubcap from a Triumph 1300/1500 saloon which was advertised as a TR4a bonnet badge. (Stanpart 709744 - there's one or two currently on Ebay being advertised as TR4a bonnet badges). I was too late to return it when i realised so also bought a new bonnet badge ring (part number 7088 37R) and had the hubcap turned down to fit the ring. Quite pleased with the final result.

eBay now charges buyers for the privilege of buying.

Being only a "buyer" with 120+ purchases under my belt i recently posted my very first thing up for sale and immediately noticed a difference in prices of things i had been looking at previously. Previously items would show up priced at round figures but now everything seems to be showing at around 5% higher than before. Tried deleting cookies, different browser, private browser etc but cannot get back to original prices. Very similar to Ryanair. Couple of weeks ago looked at flights, went back a couple of hours later to book and prices had increased by 200%. Deleting cookies/private br -
Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply in great detail. I was on my way to see my mechanic armed with some good suggestions from this thread when i got a call from him saying the head is on and the car is running well! It was a copper Payen gasket that he fitted. I took her for a 20 minute ride and she seemed fine. A couple of small jobs to do on the car, MOT and then i will have her back home. I have been talking to a company called Classic and Modern in Bracknell about doing a full engine rebuild and this is the route i will take if i have problems again in the future. But

Any Wensum group members around? This may be of interest; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256809734816?_skw=Triumph+TR&itmmeta=01JM0JQ78851VQH5QVJSX7AYVG&hash=item3bcb0d92a0:g:yc4AAOSwmtdnM4C5&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAAwFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1csxWB6O9U4LRXNyfzgYmJLlvwDqIoIl9rs5hrtt05lDubTYpyFgZfu87tbuadL9YCujRKyNyAPOMFzb73PXMMhpkNm%2F4Pgi%2FlUAS6QqXC4PQCn4QyPfxL1V%2FV9mL4UTKAD1WH3T358%2BnfeEYdmin0ey1PpZ4ONAxy0WEnJevD5eRnCMMdiwSecHYbk91Xv9nRQ%2FxxSExX%2BlrTK95fyXkGf352d1SI4ImNoAoIErh9woQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9r03JKgZQ

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have informed the mechanic no skimming of the block please.

Or this one which Bob mentions; https://www.trshop.co.uk/product/crankshaft-rear-oil-seal-kit-tr2-4a/

Have been reading about rear crank seals. Pretty sure the current seal has been in there for 50 years and the crank has never been machined. I very much doubt that my Spanish mechanic has the correct mandrel to set the split two piece ally fitting correctly. With this in mind would a Marx seal be my best bet?

Long story.... using a endoscopic camera my most recent mechanic discovered that one of my valves was not opening and closing properly which meant the head coming off to investigate further. I was at the workshop yesterday to take along a head gasket set i picked up at Stoneleigh. The head was back from machining and all the valves had a satisfying "plopping" sound suggesting they are all working correctly. My mechanic suggested that it may be a good idea to skim the block as well. Initial reaction was oh s***! However have been giving this a bit of thought overnight and think that it may

Rich, it was good to meet you and can't wait to get my shiny new grill fitted! The recovered H frames are beautiful and if you still have any left this time next year i will probably be taking one off your hands! Was also great to have dinner on Saturday night with John M and the Cumbria boys. I am already thinking about next year! Richard

Great advice here Tony. Has anyone changed tanks recently? What are regarded as the best quality Ali tanks on the market these days? Cheers, Richard

Need measurement of the length of Surrey Hardtop listing rails
Besalu replied to DesertDave's topic in TR4/4A Forum
Has anyone attempted making listing rails for a 4/4a Surrey hardtop? Or if any after market options are available? I have a spare hardtop i am thinking about selling but it doesn't have listing rails and would prefer to sell it (if i do decide to sell) with rails included. Many thanks, Richard -
I would like to consult the oracle and ask the forum for any ideas or suggestions of what might be the issue with my car. During October i took the car on a long run from Stuart's in Cornwall up to Cumbria, back down to Plymouth, ferry to Santander then over to Girona. Around 1500 miles and the car was fine. A couple of weeks later i set off on a trip to Madrid and the car soon started hiccuping and lost power. Since then i have replaced points, condensor, rotor arm, link wire, new dizzy cap and plug leads, new spark plugs and new coil. The car starts well and sounds pretty good but when

TR4A/5 Side and Indicator Wing Lights

Ian, thank you. I have quite a few Scots friends and i could well imagine what adjectives Alan uttered under his breath Sorry, i did not see any reference to Revington in this thread although i did realise i was bringing back a thread from 2009 and thought that maybe standards had improved since then. I had a look on the Revington website and have seen the following: https://www.revingtontr.com/tr4a/triumph-catalogue/am/part/133364 https://www.revingtontr.com/product/616628/name/gasket-lens-seating-complete-with-bulbholder https://www.revingtontr.com/product/514809/name/ga
