Thanks for the replies and I’ll follow these contacts up.

Thanks for replying Peter. They are for a 1955 TR2, but I would like the sliding windows and my frames have the channel for these (I think!).
I'll contact Coventry Hood and see what they say.

I think that this topic has been covered in the past but I can’t find anything when I search on the forum. Does anyone know of a trimmer who will recover sidescreens? Preferably in the midlands area but not absolutely vital.
Thanks Ian

Good morning,
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the actual frame of the earlier fixed window sidescreens and the later sliding window ones. I have a pair of the earlier ones which I would like to have recovered and made with sliding windows. Is this possible?
Thanks Ian

Thanks very much Bob. I was advised that the speedo cable ran inside the car under the carpet, but that didn’t seem right!
The steel tangs obviously haven’t been put back on, so I’ll have to come up with another way to secure the wires. Thanks

Continuing the restoration of my TR2, could anyone confirm the route of the Speedo cable please - from gearbox to dashboard? Also, are the wires from the sidelights supported or protected in anyway in the front wheel arches?
As ever, any advice gratefully received.

Thank you very much Bob and Stuart. That info is just what I needed and I think that I’ll go ahead and order the strip from Woolies.
Cheers

Has anyone any experience of using the self adhesive chrome strip, as sold by Woolies, on the “mouth” of a TR2? They sell it in three different widths - 4mm, 9mm and 12mm. Which width would be the more correct?
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks Ralph, I guess that’s true, they are hidden most of the time. I’m going to have another go at smoothing them and then maybe try the foam. If it doesn’t work I’ll take it off. I’m finding the bends on the corner pieces the most difficult to get right.

I’ve tried to tap out the dents etc. on my rear cappings but my skill level isn’t up to getting them perfect! Does anyone know if it’s okay to cover them with thin foam (the kind that I’ve used on the rear wheel arches)? Are there any disadvantages to doing this?
As ever, any advice gratefully received.

Update on the situation!
Moss technical support have replied to me very quickly to say that are sending me replacements free of charge. They checked these and the springs are working correctly.
Great service from Moss.

I’ve just fitted a pair of the teardrop escutcheons and found that the springs hold them loosely open, such that they will knock against the paintwork when driving. Has anyone else come across this issue? They were bought from Moss but have sat on a shelf for about three and a half years and so unlikely to be under any kind of guarantee (but I have contacted them).
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I’ll need to research some more.

I'm coming to the stage of my 1955 TR2 restoration when I need to choose new headlights to replace the broken sealed units that it came with. I've recently seen advertisements for the Better Car Lighting "reproduction PL700 Tribar" headlights. Has anyone any experience of these or suitable alternatives.
Thanks

Peter, that's really great help and just what I needed.
Back in the garage tomorrow to put all that advice into practice. (I hope)!
Thanks very much.

Can anyone help with a photo or diagram of the wiring connections on the rear of the wiper motor please? Model CRT. Before going any further with the one that I've got I'd like to bench test it. Is it just a matter of connecting + and - to a battery?
With this lockdown situation I can't just run to my helpful friends at TR Enterprises.
Thanks

Thanks all for the replies.
I've discovered my problem was the solid tube on the filler cap assembly (as Stuart pointed out). I wasn't aware of this and was trying to fit the longer tube - doh!
Now I've got the correct filler cap and tube and alls well with the world - at least in my garage!

Hi Stuart. I've measured up and my tank is the same dimensions as in your photos. It looks like I'll have to grit my teeth and try to persuade the rear deck to "give" a little.
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks Stuart, that's really useful. I'll nip out to the garage later and check those measurements. I'll let you know.

Hi
Can anyone advise me please? Should it be possible to fit the larger capacity (TR2?) fuel tank into a TR3 body shell? Currently I can put the tank in place but there isn't room for the filler pipe.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. Ian Lynam

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll look into both of those possibilities.

Hi
I'm trying to find a connector to fit the copper fuel line into the fuel tank. The tank is the one with the outlet in the bottom centre. Does anyone know the thread size and where I might get hold of one?
Thanks.

Thanks Stuart. I'm ordering a heater today.

Thanks Tim. I’ve spoken with Brian from Catcott Garages who emphasised that point. One of mine is a good fit and the other needs a bit of work. It’s catching slightly on the windscreen frame.
