  1. Hi all

after considerable thought and pestering you guys AGAIN,I am left wondering about this seemingly impossible question of perfect door gaps and I am coming around to the thoughts that maybe this question when directed at the tr6 may be just part of what a car coming from the troubled car industry of the seventies was all about.I apologise if this sounds like a criticism of the Tr6 it’s most definitely not as I love my car but maybe I fell into the trap of comparing my fifty year old car with a car of today so long live classic cars original warts and all I say.

  2. Thanks for all of your advice and information, after looking at the YouTube films and digesting the advice given by you guys this may be a question of pay (am assuming lots of dosh) a body shop to fix this or frankly live with it.

The bottom of the trailing edge of the door doesn’t seem to lay flat with the bottom of the back wing it sort of stands proud! but having just got it back from the body shop for a re spray (I said I would hang the doors)I may yet have another go

Once again thanks to all of you guys

  3. I know John but the information was given to me by Garry out ofTRGB and although he explained as fully as he could I wasn’t looking under the car as he was telling me,if that makes sense.I was just hoping that one of you guys would know or at least have a guess at what he was trying to explain and perhaps give me an idea of the size (difficulty) of the job

  4. Hi all

i have been trying to align my door and I have been told that the drivers side rear needs jacking up after undoing some bolts and fitting shims or spacers,I know this sounds a bit vague but this is not to difficult!!.I wonder if any of you guys with the knowledge could enlighten me please

    regards nige

  5. Hi all

the oil pressure warning light was working fine before fumbling around trying to relocate a bulb holder into the back of the speedo now guess what!! The light stays on I noticed one connector had come adrift so I put it back where I thought it had come from,it is difficult to see when standing on your head under the dash.My assumption is I got the oil pressure connected wrongly any views on my assumption please,I should add the pressure gauge is correct and there is no oil leakage

  6. Hi all

the thread on my seat runner to floor fixing has stripped,I have a 5/16 unf helicoil kit I used on the bonnet catch, can I use this for the stripped thread on the floor fixing or is it a different size that I will need.I also have a problem with the throttle cable fixing on the linkage end the black outer does not hold fast in the clamp causing the throttle to stick open (yikes that was scarey)are there any fixes without going to the expense of a new throttle cable, any suggestions would be most welcome

    many thanks nige

  7. Can I just pose a question to Stuart about the helicoil, I have never used these and I don’t know the method of applying these things or indeed what size I should get.Can you explain how I would go about fixing this particular problem please.

    thanks in anticipation

  8. Hi all

have just spent a pretty frustrating morning trying to get my freshly painted bonnet to fit properly to no avail so first question is guys how in gods name do you adjust the bonnet to fit with at least acceptable shut lines. Also after weeping over several paint chips I found that the piece of metal that the bolts holding the bonnet catch screws in to has a stripped thread on one side!!! and yes I did mutter several curses (under my breath of course). So anyone out there got any words of wisdom and experience please

once again all comments great fully received

  9. Hi all

i am contemplating renewing the gaiters on my cp as one of them is split and I want to change the ball joints as I have been advised to do this because they look a bit decrepit. But although I am willing to give it a go I am somewhat of a novice to this,I have a brown manual but I wanted to ask if anyone out there could explain this procedure in layman’s terms (idiot rating quite high here).any pics or diagrams would be really helpful

    many thanks in anticipation

  10. Hi all

heres an unusual one!!  Any body know where I can obtain the yellow blanking plugs ziebart used to use, several of mine are missing I know there is a very slim chance but I would love to keep everything original and I don’t know any where to look for something even close colour and size wise.

    hopefully nige

  11. Hi all

just fitted outer window weather strip to my cp O M G that was fun!! Anyway I found it easier to use one half of a wooden clothes peg to wedge the window to one side (once you have wound it down)and work from the straight end first but make sure you have cut it to length. If you put the clips into the tool thingy from moss using a bit of blue tac to hold it in place you can keep feeding the tool in to the door from the straight end as the window drops low at that end and work along moving the peg as you go,anyway it worked for me, hopefully it may be of use to anyone out there

  12. Hi

I have my doors stripped down on the bench and was wondering if there was anything I could use to lubricate the window channels whilst I can get to them ,they don’t look in bad nick and were working well before strip down

    regards nige

  13. Thanks guy

The reason I ask is I have removed the doors for painting by removing the hinge to door bolts, but of course now the cars been painted I don’t want to destroy the paint finish on the said bolts being as their visible when the door is open.Hope that makes sense

    thanks again guys
