My guess would be crud in the fuel, do you have a pre filter before the pump?
-
Cheers Matt, good to know i am not alone, I have just changed my pump, but it's the same size! Lol
-
Guy
In line filter to pump, not tank to filter, so different sizes at each end lol
-
Guy
Just read it back, not the best, pipe from tank into in line filter than short piece of hose that steps up the size to fit the pump.
Thanks Phil, anyone else with any other ideas.
Cheers Carl

Hi Guys
Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a replacement step down hose which brings the size of the bosch fuel pump down to the size of the fuel line, on my set up it looks like a piece of garden house.

Of course, apologies, most of the major factors said the "computer says no!" or yes we have one, you pay your money and two or three days later they say "no we have not after all"
The solution came from a very helpful firm on the bay at a ridiculously cheap price, so good, I have now ordered a spare, the inputs and outputs are identical to 0580 254 929

They only appear to sell the kit, cant see a part number to try and get just the pump, unless you know better mate. Cheers Carl

Cheers Guys, earth is fine, pump now not working at all just gets very warm, live feed is also fine, so it appears pump is knackered. Neil, didnt think the 5 had a bulk head trip switch? Carl
-
Checking the 5 over ready for Malvern and the fuel pump is deadly quiet, but getting very hot and providing low pressure, the live feed wire is also very hot, feed is direct from the main fuse board. With the ignition off it appears that the fuel flow is still there but very low and the engine wont fire, ran out of time and will revisit this evening/tomorrow.
I have a Bosch pump fitted and last time I looked the step down hose from pump to fuel line was startting to break up, I am wondering if a chunk has broken away and partially blocked the pipe causing back flow which will make the pump hot and then the heat caused is transferring up the feed wire, can you buy the step down hose seperately?
Thoughts before I revisit welcome

I hope I am not teaching granny, but if you find a garage through these sources, change the locks and or add additional security, as you don't know who else has a key. I have been in property for 25 years and have seen it all.

On hols in portugal with a more than a few units in me but here goes!
since I was 18 about to embark on a 4 year rebuild of my spit I yearned to own a 5, some 18 years later I had 7k to buy a TR, I bought a lovely 4 for 7k, having turned down a 5 at 6,250 as although it had an MOT it was going to need serious investment that I wasn't going to be able to afford. However I invested in my 4 over the years and was lucky to sell at the right time and make the jump for only 3k upto a reasonable five. F all to do with future value but looks with the right engine.
I don't give a toss about todays or the future value, unless something drastically happens that forces me to sell, I hope that I can pass the car onto my son when I am no longer able to drive or I am in my cannister. F all to do with investment or snobbary, but my desire before the hype. The porker is a different story, it was to scratch an itch but with one eye on a future investment and to possibly assist my future pethetic pension outlook. It will go before my 5, despite the fact that it puts a smile on my face, every time I drive it. Cheers Carl
