  1. Hi,

I have SUs and do have vacuum advance fitted. The distributor doctor added a vacuum advanced module for me when he rebuilt my distributor. It seems to work well.

  2. I have re veneered a few dashboards for my car before settling on my current one. It was reasonably easy to remove the old veneer. I found the hardest part was finishing the dash, in the end I used epifanes varnish. I applied a lot of thins coats over many weeks, followed by a few weeks of curing before cutting and polishing. Yours looks like it would be easy to remove the veneer and start again.

I have a CP dash I could lend you if you want to refurb yours whilst using my one to keep driving the car. It isn't a hard job to remove the dash and put in a new one.

  3. Hi Alex

I had the same issue with my high torque starter. It turned out to be the contacts in the solenoid, in my case the copper disc on the plunger part was badly pitted. Replacements parts are readily available on eBay and cheap, just search for Nippon Denso solenoid.

    Cheers Stephen

Join the two outlets with one of your existing oil cooler hoses or you will probably not have oil flow through from the pump to the oil gallery.  It is a full flow take off not a bypass type.

Thanks that is good to know I'll try that.

  5. Hi. I've an oil cooler that was fitted to my car when I bought it which doesn't have a thermostat. Ultimately I will add a thermostat but for now I'd like to remove the oil lines and cooler and plug the fittings in the spin-on filter housing. Does anyone know what thread size the fitting might be please?

    Many thanks

    Stephen

I know this post/conversation is a few years old, but I was wondering if you were still making the glove box light bracket?  If so, I could really use one.

    Hi Fred

I bought one from Roger a while back and didn't end up using it so I have one if Roger doesn't.

Stephen - I have some spare lever arms rebuilt by Stevsons which I can let you have on an exchange basis - they are 15% uprated as standard now. However I don't want the telescopic conversion - if of interest, PM me your contact details and we can discuss

    Hi Rich

Thanks I've sent you a PM

  8. Hi. I've switched my car to some lever shocks as I've never been overly happy with the ride from the Spax adjustable shocks that where fitted when I bought the car. So I've some spare shocks and mounting brackets. I picked up some cheap lever shocks to see how the car would ride on lever shocks and I do prefer it.  Ideally I'd like to swap the Spax and mounting brackets for some good used lever shocks ie ones good and ready to use with no leaks. The lever shocks I picked up to test IMG_1553.thumb.jpg.3ac1d6e8c94085e7f4178591edd1d5e2.jpgIMG_1552.thumb.jpg.6c50ab13a36186de16c99aa8205e242d.jpgweep a little so looking for a better pair to use permanently.

The mounting brackets are the type that mount to the original lever shock mounting points and also to the chassis where the bump stop mounts.

I might consider selling them if no one wants to swap.

    Thanks Stephen
