  1. Right got you, so more sequential, yeah I can see why that might be a good thing, thanks for explaining. Gareth
  2. I'm not sure I'm totally getting the need for a logic box, what am I not getting here, over the standard set up of an on off switch and the inhibitor switches? Gareth
  3. Hi Mike, Yes my set up is still the original split cable, I was just wondering if you could incorporate a single knob to your modified one for ease of use. Gareth
  4. I like the idea, very clever. Is it possible to link this to a single cable/control for ease of use, enriching the MU while increasing revs at the same time? Gareth
  5. The sound gives you the clue plus loss of pressure, I'm also betting its the inlet side of the pump causing the issue. There should be definitely be a pre pump filter, more so than post pump filter. Gareth
  6. Did you tell Rees Bros about the clunk? I'm sure they would be happy to double check the area of the diff to make sure and perhaps identify where it's from. Assuming the diff area is good, then you've got drive shafts/ UJ's and the same with the prop as the next obvious points of wear. Worth checking the rear shock/ damper mounts as has been mentioned. Gareth
  7. I use Retro Classic 001 tyres in 165/ 80 15, they are the same tread as the XAS' successor. Transformed the ride and steering and just look right too. You won't regret going to the correct size. Gareth
  8. When I adjusted mine, the colortune wanted a certain setting to get the flame blue, but listening by ear, it didn't sound as good, when I adjusted by sound the colortune was starting to go more orange, but it ran better. So I'm guessing he wasn't far out to begin with, but it made some difference to how the car felt. My problem was being over rich and sooting up the plugs and exhaust. I don't get any noticeable bogging. Maybe have a play with it, mark where you start from and try adjusting things, assuming you've done the other checks first I suggested, plus I forgot to mention I checked
  9. Sorry to see you've had to do this repair, but you've made a weak frame a lot better, so some solace. Gareth
  10. I seem to remember, just tapping it gently with a screwdriver and hammer will loosen it. Best to mark the position of the cylinders before you do so that at the very least you can put it back where it was. I went through all the others things first that can affect mixture at the MU, namely the vacuum amount. Throttle plates closed and balanced, air filter clean or new, tappets adjusted correctly. I put a gauge on the vacuum take off to measure the amount. Making sure you have no leaks from the hoses, diaphragm etc. Good idea to make sure the ignition side is working well too before final
  11. Enjoyable video, thanks for posting it. I've done the exact same adjustment on my metering unit, I had a colortune fitted but it was the sound that gave me the most accurate setting. Gareth

No worries Richard, I hope you have lots of fun with the '6. Shame it's a bit dirty out on the roads right now, but the spring isn't far off. Keep asking questions, most are very helpful and friendly on here

  13. Hi Gareth...regarding your comment    "I moved from 205's to 165's, the difference was amazing, so light on the steering now."

I currently have 195.65.15 tyres on my TR4, and find the steering heavy at low speed, parking etc.

Would you care to comment further on change of tyres.

    Cheers...Malcolm.

      Hi Malcolm,

I would say that the original tyres were pretty old and quite hard. The camber angle was also fairly extreme.

So I've put on new tyres that are considerably thinner and corrected the camber. That's corrected the slightly harsh and twitchy ride, but also given much lighter steering at slow speeds.

I also feel the car looks right now, something I didn't notice until I went back to the original size tyre.

So for me it's been a good thing to change to 165's, and I would recommend doing so.

There is probably less choice for 165's than 195's, but if you don't care for a classic tread, there are some reasonably priced modern versions out there.

Ultimately its your choice and preference, but I'm happy to have changed to the 165's, it's suits the aesthetic look and comfort i want.

      Cheers

      Gareth
