    Hello,

My 3A has no seat belts,  and no sign of any ever being fitted. I think I would like some.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers

    Dave

Hi Dave, the best ‘recommendation’ I was given is don’t fit them unless you are also fitting a robust roll-over bar….

  2. Inside (must be although I cannot see it) is some sort of pulley system with 3 or 4 levels of resistance (maybe they don’t want you in there because everything might pop out under pressure?), the resistance is too strong on all the settings at the moment; you can hear and feel resistance inside (compared to the other end / others, bit of eezit oil inside could not do any harm?

AI art is an odd beast. If you can describe something, a computer algorithum can probably stitch it together. Trouble is, you never know quite what you're going to get :D. But it's improving at a dizzying pace. In technology terms, AI has advanced an entire generation in a matter of months, and the results are getting pretty convincing.

A quick example, here are five pictures of classics at the Bonneville salt flats, Utah.

However, can you spot the odd one out?

The odd one out?  The last one.

It is the only picture of the five not created by AI.  (Mike Osteriech's Plymouth Fury, August 2014).

Impressive stuff. I quite like the 4th one. Looks like a heavyweight illegitimate child of an E-type Jag and a Ferrari GTO!

    Deggers

Unbelievable Deggers, I thought that the third one looked a bit clean and shiny. - For my ‘learning curve, the real car has a dent in the rear door; would this not happen if AI (unless I suppose you told it)?

On a similar note, I really couldn’t tell if this ‘porky’ was actually rusty and worn or (more likely I suspect) ‘painted on’ along with the ‘grime’?

  4. Rest in Peace and condolences to the family and friends.

I also did not know him well, I went up to London in the late 70’s to part exchange a 4-pot engine with a broken crank - I was a teenager on a budget, he was charming, but feeling the minuscule play at the pulley, he told me that I would not be getting the surcharge back. - The rebuilt engine was magnificent!

I was at Goodwood in 79 and remember the well stuffed hat being passed around but not the specifics

  5. Hi John, mine is a very late and very original 3A, I’ve run with the bomb starter for the 40+ years I’ve had the car (far as I know it looks original fitting) only ‘trouble’ I’ve ever had was fairly recently when after a lot of cranking I did not disengage… scared me but, I think that was more down to a flat battery and other circumstances although, I did then fit an isolater  which I had been planning but never got around to

  6. Hi Tim, he is not so far from you, he is ‘studying’ - although we don’t see much actual evidence of that ! - in London, Ontario.. Do you know it? - the Thames flows through and he lives in Grosvenor St etc….

I’m flying out via Toronto Airport next week on the 7th hopefully to give it a quick check over before he sets off across the desert to Utah, I will be around for a week with a few days work in St Catherine's / Niagara Falls if you are around and have time for me to buy you a beer?

…… This is what they are going to Utah to do, the more extreme the sport = the better….
