  1. I own two of the Grinnall cars, my fist one has been fully restored with the body being done at S&S, the second one is sitting on the TR7 Jig a brought from Steve at S&S and is currently undergoing a full restoration.

New floors front and rear Both sides

    Rear Hanger repairs

    New door skins both sides

    New wing both sides

    New inner flitches both side

    new front panel

    New boot lid and bonnet

Be under no mistake the mechanicals of these cars are sound, however be prepared for full body restoration

In relation to them as a separate mark, I think they do stand out, as a customer you had many options making each car unique, for one of mine I even have the letters exchanged between the commissioner of the car and Mark Grinnall.

Both mine carry 5 stud wheels, V8's with power steering, adjustable shocks etc, as well as the exterior styling.

You guessed it I like them, I also own a TR7 V8 fixed head and when you see them parked next to each other, you start to appreciate the very different stance and presence the cars have.

Of course each to there own, but lets all agree that keeping TR7's in all there forms on the road is the important thing

  2. Hi

I brought an engine that required rebuild and had it custom built by JRV8, real easy they organised collection, rebuilt it and returned with fully documented. with CD of the build and certificates etc.

I would always recommend these guys is you are looking for a 3.5 V8, I have had no issues with mine al all

  3. Hi All,

Not sure I am putting this in the correct, I thought the club ran a parts fund to make it possible for parts that go out of availability, can be re manufactured.

The TR7 among many of its week points often need Turrets replaced and in fact the whole area of the inner flitches are a week point for metal worm.

How do you get sponsorship going to get these type of parts re-manufactured ?

Apologues if this is not the correct place to put such requests

  4. I know this might sound odd , but I had a problem of not getting a pedal, after much head scratching I found I tiny and I mean tiny pin whole in a brand new brake pipe.

Before you go to far, just run your hands along all the pipe work, to see if you feel any leakage, I could not see it until after I made a new pipe and replaced it, but I did feel the brake fluid on the faulty pipe

  5. Hi All,

I am looking to see if anyone has completed a front floor replacement on a TR7 Coupe, not sure where to start with taking the floor out in the correct way, I have replacement floor pans already.

Can anyone help with a process and some pictures ?

    Thanks

    Mike

  6. Hi All,

I am looking for some advice , I have a US 1969 TR6 that had been converted to right hand drive, during the conversion a set of HS6 SU have been fitted, the choke cable from the old cards does not reach the choke connector for the first SU (nearest the bulk head )

Given the cost of replacement cables can anyone advise which one is best to order?

    Thanks

    Mike

  7. Hi Folks

    I have a grinnall

It runs 5 stud wheels, with modified SD1 strut mounts, the car is very twitchy and is pulling left, does any one have figures on how the toe in toe out should be set.

Tyre pressures etc are all ok, as is all the front suspension as it has all been renewed also the powersteering rack has been reconditioned.

    Thanks

    Mike

  8. Hi Folks,

Looking for advice, I have a Grinnal with the 5 stud conversion, it is really twitchy and I have replaced the strut tops with modified SD1 tops as per the originals fitted by Grinnall.

Had the steering rack rebuilt, it has all new rubbers and bushes tracking redone after that.

    Any advice would be appreciated

  9. Hi Paul,

    Thanks for the pictures

The bit I am struggling with fitting the throttle linkage, the linkage I have looks the same as yours,

I cannot see how to mount it without it hitting the steering arm.

There are two threaded holes on the manifold which I assume are its mount point but as I say it hits the steering arm did you have to modify yours?

    Thanks

    Mike

  10. Hi Guys,

    After more advise :)

I have fitted SU HS6 to my RHD car.

I am now am trying to understand how I should link up the vacuum hoses and the Servo pipe.

Should I link the two cards and then "T" to the distributor (type 22D) and then link the rocker cover to the brake servo?

    Thanks in Advance

    Mike

  11. Hi,

Does anyone have some pictures of how the throttle linkage is setup for HS6 SU cards, that they would be willing to share?

I have had the Cards refurbished and jetted for the 6

I know am trying to work out the best way to setup the linkage and attach it to the manifold etc.

    Thanks

    Mike

  12. Hi,

I noticed in the Moss catalog that there are two types of oil gauge feed, one Pi and the other Carbs, but adapter for the engine is only listed as PI

If this is the case how and where does the pipe connect to the engine on a carb model?

    Thanks

    Mike

  13. Hi Guys,

thanks for the advice I have picked up this information on the Blanks required but I am having a problem finding them, any Ideas who might supply them?

    For the EGR threaded holes:

    The head= 3/4" X 16 bolt

The intake manifold= 1/2" NPT plug
