  1. There are a few on the market. Which one is the best value for money?
  2. Thanks Harry, I do not need the measurements of the brace itself, just its relative position.
  3. I am fabricating a new tower brace for my project car and would like to know the relative measurements to the centre and face of the harmonic balancer. Intending to fit a thermo fan so the engine fan/extension is not required. Presumeably leave just enough space between the balancer face and the brace for the fan belt fitment/removal.
  4. Does anyone know where the power rack that CDD uses is sourced from.....must be from a manufactured car.
  5. I am all for sensible modifications, but I would keep the current diff if it is Ok. The diff replacements that I have seen.. eg..Nissan or BMW, the bracketry for attachment does not look as good as the factory install. Different story if you want an LSD.
  6. Hi David...I had to fabricate new engine mount to chassis plates as they are not available to purchase, then welded them on to where I believed [on advice and measurements from forum members] was the correct position. I now just wanted to double check that I have it right, hence my post.
  7. IMHO.....The light guage steel bracket that is attached to the firewall to bolt down the column was OK back in the day, but not these days. All of the aftermarket EPAS systems that I have seen only have an additional steel stay attached as support for the steering column. There is column torque generated by the unit and should be addressed properly...eg..delete the existing firewall bracket and bolt/weld in a substantial dedicated bracket. The price of the "Ezpowersteeringuk" unit is OTT, whereas a unit such as "Z320's" can be fabricated at a much lower cost. "Stuart" is co
  8. Thanks Waldi....the bottom of the engine block is 80mm above the CM, so I should be OK with height. As for checking the longitudinal placement?....the centre of the engine mount is very close to be aligned with the front edge of the rear lower control arm bracket on the chassis.
  9. The bottom of the block is currently 80mm from the top of the main cross member. Top of LCA bracket is level with oil pan lip. Engine higher than what it should be??
  10. One problem with EPAS aftermarket systems is their method of mounting the unit under the dash...An Automotive Engineer would never pass the installation.
  11. From my current project which is a 6 cyl TR engine in a TR4A chassis. I would like to check that the engine is at the correct height. Can someone provide a reference point measurement on the engine to the chassis.
  12. Hi Gareth...regarding your comment    "I moved from 205's to 165's, the difference was amazing, so light on the steering now."

I currently have 195.65.15 tyres on my TR4, and find the steering heavy at low speed, parking etc.

Would you care to comment further on change of tyres.

    Cheers...Malcolm.

      Hi Malcolm,

I would say that the original tyres were pretty old and quite hard. The camber angle was also fairly extreme.

So I've put on new tyres that are considerably thinner and corrected the camber. That's corrected the slightly harsh and twitchy ride, but also given much lighter steering at slow speeds.

I also feel the car looks right now, something I didn't notice until I went back to the original size tyre.

So for me it's been a good thing to change to 165's, and I would recommend doing so.

There is probably less choice for 165's than 195's, but if you don't care for a classic tread, there are some reasonably priced modern versions out there.

Ultimately its your choice and preference, but I'm happy to have changed to the 165's, it's suits the aesthetic look and comfort i want.

      Cheers

      Gareth
