[Possible solution for blocked crankcase Drain Tap]

A few shots of ‘crud’ build up around No4 liner in my TR4 engine prior to rebuild. I couldn’t believe how much there was and how solid it had become. The drain tap hole was difficult to clear.

So I wonder was there a complete engine and gearbox under that bonnet?And what caused the car to be laid up for so long…

How could a frozen bonnet release mechanism be freed after 25 years of inactivity on a TR5? A genuine question..

Thanks for your replies guys, interesting reading..

It sounds like you could have viewed this very TR6, I assume somebody had done ‘a repair on it’ but not a proper rebuild 

The TR2 was an ‘insurance write off’, but the existing owner bought it back and then repaired it over several years. He loved the car and kept it from 1962 to 1978.

The TR6 buried his drivers door into the rear passenger wing of the TR2 on the roundabout.
