  1. Hi Bob, I called MSVT but they said the list was full. As I am fairly local put me down as a reserve. As consolation I am booking the full track day on the GP circuit for the following week. Tom, make sure everything is strong and bolted down tightly ! ps, Bob, note that the first Wednesday of the Month at Brands is badged 'Summer Wednesday' - a sort of petrol head fest gathering, so you will have an audience !!!! You wont need a map to get there, just follow all the neon lights and Vauxhall Nova's heading over the Dartford Bridge
  2. Tom, if it isnt, i'll be taking your's round 'sideways' Tony, *#%+ $¥f
  3. Hi Bob, only just seen this, I will pm you with a yes for me please (of course I am a total novice with no race experience around Brands !)
  4. We have been re-invited to display at this event, with an initial offer of 30 car spaces (free entry for car and passenger/s). Last year the Kent Group took 18 cars, so there should be a few extra spaces for ye non-locals. If you are interested, PM me and I will start a list, then closer to the date I can advise the organiser how many we are. Its a great day with plenty of noisy F1 stuff from the 50's through to the 90's, plus cars with roofs for you saloon types. There was even a TR4 'racing' last year ! As well as racing there are static displays, Last year we
  5. I had better email Mr Revington a list of the parts that I expect to break and/or fall off on the day !!!!! That said, its the 145 mile trip there that worries me more - I think i'll borrow a trailer to take olde smokey down (I'll need one for the way back anyway !)
  6. The Kent Group are displaying a full compliment of 20 cars at Brands Hatch this Sunday so if you are coming along, do pop by and say hi (the more the merrier to help bend my hardtop into place!) From TR2 to 8 (plus a guest Vitesse) we are hopefully the largest single make on display and will be parked along the concourse to the main grandstand next to the 'Megastore and Kentagon bar / restaurant. ps, if TR's aren't enough, there a few ex Senna and Mansell F1 cars on display
  7. Is anyone up for this ? Entry for classics is free (car and driver), passengers pay. Spaces need to be pre-booked. I have a contact email for the organisers. I think they are looking for defined groups rather than individuals, but if we get a group, happy to act as liaison. Parking is on Clarke and the good news is that I am not in the Formula Ford race so you wont get sprayed with gravel ! See links below http://www.brandshatchmastersfestival.com/index.php/car-clubs http://www.brandshatchmastersfestival.com/
  8. I also have two rather 'energetic' bengals who at the word "pussycat" go belting out into the garden ready to defend their patch - this may explain why they are keen to get out of the front door too !
  9. Bring your tools, i have lots of bits that need fixing
  10. Anyone going to the Goodwood 72nd Members Meeting on the 29th / 30th - it is now open to non GRRC Members (use code MM39). Some interesting racing which should be spiced up by the damp March weather. We'll be there on the Sunday if I can spark olde smokey back into life this weekend. http://www.goodwood.co.uk/members-meeting/the-races.aspx Regrettably non-GRRC Members cannot take their classics into the Paddock classic parking :-( (unless anyone has an inside track ???)
  11. Very tempted, but as 'olde smokey' has no suspension mods, flimsy 48 spokers and no roll cage (and only 4 out of 6 windscreen screws), maybe I'll be limited to a parade lap or two. However, having raced around CC in Formula Ford and tested / trained there in Caterhams, I am very happy to offer to sit with members doing laps to advise on line, and basics on braking and power (must remember that the braking point on a 3A is probably more than just a bit before that for a FF !)
  12. I had banked on it being wet so the print end is still off - a job for tomorrow now ! Forecast is showing sunny all morning but a tad cool at 5 - 8 degrees. A few weeks ago I asked a contact in the City Rozzers if there were open areas we could park at, save having to go the supermarket basement. Their only suggestion for a smallish group of cars was on-street in the city, with the follow-up parking advice from the ever helpful City Corporation being: Parking on single yellow lines and on meters is allowed after 11am on a Saturday and all day on Sundays http://www.cityoflondon
