  1. Hi Peter,

I've obtained another just in case, and it doesn't rattle. Nor did the unit removed, but if the loose component will be OK, I'd rather leave it on.  I weighed up the risks on the day. It is a bit more awkward for me to get back under the car to effect a swap than the average person, and I have a gut feel that the filter is better made than to be "broken" by a drop of a metre to the floor. I wondered if anyone had experienced the phenomenon and found it to be non-critical, saving me the bother. Agree with all rationale expressed!! Had there been the slightest indication that all was not normal during the road test, I wouldn't be asking the question.  I'll still sleep on it, but if anyone can reassure me, so much the better!  Off to WyeDean's monthly meeting shortly, so I'll ask there too.

    Best wishes    Willie

  2. Hi All,

Is it a serious threat if a K&N filter sounds as if there is something loose internally when it is shaken gently?  I put such a unit in on Sunday during oil & filter change, and gave it a short run to refuel. I was going to ask the question on the day, but I got locked out when trying to log in to ask!  Oil pressure is completely normal, but I just want to be sure. The filter did roll off the bench so it could have been shaken up!

  3. Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where I can obtain an actuating rod and a trunnion for opening/closing the scuttle flap which is acually the correct diameter to accommodate the aftermarket larger diameter rod? Or, a s/h set?  Heater scuttle flap currently remains closed!  My experience is that trunnion AUE34 is far too small.

  4. Hi Everyone,

Can anyone supply the width and height of the chassis main rails please? I'm thinking of having a frame fabricated which will sit in the trolley jack arm and hug the side rail to hold it securely and prevent slippage of the jack on my waxy rails.  All criticism welcome!

  5. Many thanks for the additional inputs.  I will stick to the matchstick repair initially as I'm not dexterous enough to brave the clever dowel option.  I'll keep that one up my sleeve. I have created this  1.5mm pilot hole starter if needs be.              Willie

  6. Hi Everyone,

The screws securing the r/h hinge on the cubby box lid have pulled out of the wooden dash. See photo.  What is the best method of re-securing without damaging the dash?

  7. Thanks for the recent comments.  I'm waiting on a call from Revingtons tomorrow about a new item. They have exhausted supply of used rods. A check on Ebay shows one assembly at £70 with issues with the cap, and no evidence of a rod! No go there.
