  1. Hi Guys, just had 10 days off work getting our caravan and camping site ready for opening next weekend, it's called Apple Field !

So I have just caught up with all your emails.

Ta for the support, I will do a picture update of my progress once I start and you have convinced me to keep the origonal colour

as I am quite fond of it, my other 10% calls the TR Blanche after her dearly departed auntie as it was her favourite colour !!!!

I've been called Nibbo since primary school, Parker pens and all that !!!!!

  2. Hi Roger,

Yes I know I'm a lucky guy to have been given my shed, there are 3 of these 100' x 20' sheds, as said I converted one for myself another two for my brother-in-laws they are into vintage tractors, crawlers etc and the fourth which is the biggest 100' x 30' which is used as a communal shed for our small holding eqip, we have 8.5 acres of soft fruit, strawberries, raspberries, tayberries, goose berries etc. we are just about to open May bank holiday a 5 CL camping and caravan site on one acre. It would be a great place for a classic car rally / get together in the future, with toilet facilities etc.

  3. Thanks for the support so far, The colour Magenta has grown on me since I purchased her last July from Classic Chrome down in Richmond " London " the price wasn't too bad for the condition she's in £8500 including delivery.

Roger a good idea to get in touch with the local group for help and advice, I have a brilliant work shop, my father-in-law kept battery hens back in the days when it was not quite so controversal Edwina Curry put him out of business but thats another story, anyway I have converted one of the buildings into a work shop 100ft long 20ft wide 3phase supply unfortunitely it's not high enough for a lift so have put a pit in with proper steps, electrics and air. I can weld and have got gas and mig also a very large compressor/tank and grit blasting facility.

Back in 1999 I restored my TR7 grit blasted to bare metal complete strip down renewed every thing that needed replacing and it's still looking great it's a 1981 DHC with a stage 2 head tubler manifold and sports exhaust, although I do like the 6 better.

When I work out how to put pictures on here I will post some, oh yes I also own a 1947 Fordson Major E27N Tractor which I occassionly show down at the local steam museum on opening days.

  4. Hi Guy's

Later this year I am going to attempt a body off the chassis restoration on my TR6, so I will be looking for loads of advice from all you experts.

My 6 is a late model 1975 the tub and panels are all in reasonable condition, the only bad bit is the boot lid rear edges are these repairable or is a new lid likely ? I would like to keep the original if possible.

The chassis has had a few welds in the past.

Talking of original the colour of my 6 is magenta, what are your views of changing the colour ? do you think it is a good or bad idea or just personal choice ?

    year of manufacture 1975

    chassis number CR 64570-0

    body number T.3581/CR

    engine number CR/004494-HE

    colour MAGENTA

    trim BLACK

  5. Hi all,

I thought this may be of interest to every body !!

With Petrol expected to reach £2 per litre by end of 2011 these tips that I received from a friend might come in handy.

    TIPS ON PUMPING PETROL

I don't know what you guys are paying for petrol.... I am paying up to £1.35 to £1.50 per litre. My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every Litre:

Here at the Shell Pipeline where I work , we deliver about 4 million litres in a 24-hour period .. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and petrol, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 Litres.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the petrol, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your litre is not exactly a litre. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.

A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast modeIf you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your Petrol tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more Petrol you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. petrol storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the Petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every litre is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a petrol truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy Petrol, DO NOT fill up; most likely the petrol is being stirred up as the Petrol is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

    Happy Motoring.

  6. Hi Guys, Thanks for all your replies.

Les I only have the orig. paper filter before the pump.

I will have to up grade the pipe from the tank to the filter then from the filter to the pump, and move the pump to the spare wheel well, I suppose I could swop the pump and filter positions ! do you think that would help ? I havn't tried supporting the feed to the PRV yet, am working nights at the mo and got up too late today to have a play so will try tomorrow,

    Many thanks for your help

  7. Hi All,

Got my refurbed injectors from Neil installed along with a new coil, plugs, points, condeser and red Dizzy cap and the car is running like a well oiled sewing machine.

The problem I am experiencing at the moment is a very noisy petrol pump, it is whining like a goodun, you can hear it all the time when you are driving " thought it was the wife at first ha ha " but seriously should they be very noisy, the PO mounted it where the Lucas pump was mounted is that correct ? I have read that the Bosch pump should be installed in the spare wheel well is this correct ? do you think the pump is mounted too high and it is working to hard ?

Your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

  11. Hi Guys, I'm a new member trying to find my way around the site, I am the proud owner of my first TR6 CR PI I have always had wedges in the past and still own one as well, my problem started the other day with a seal leaking on the fuel filter, I changed the filter and seals no probs, bled all the air out started the car no leaks, then strong smell of petrol, traced the leak to the MU the leak appears to be coming out of the rear of the MU next to the bulk head. Have any of you knowledgable guys out there any ideas, HELP.
