Cornwall Group - Drive it Day 2023

For our Drive It Day 2023 we will be exploring the middle of the Duchy and will see almost none of its coastline. We hope to be blessed with fine weather and be able to enjoy Cornwall at its most colourful. Winding country lanes have been kept a minimum.

Our starting point will be at the lay-by on the A30 Eastbound a short distance West of the Kingsley Shopping Village near Fraddon. If you intend approaching from the East, you will need to leave the A30 and travel to Summercourt where you should turn right (A3058) at the traffic lights and then shortly right again on to the A30 Eastbound. If you will be approaching from the West, we understand that the section of the A30 between Scorrier and Chiverton will be closed with diversions in place.

We will meet in the lay-by at around 14:00hrs with the first TR leaving at 14:15hrs. To prevent any “log jams” in the lanes, this will not be a convoy run. Cars will be despatched at two minute intervals and each crew will be issued with comprehensive instructions.

Our destination will be the Jamaica Inn at Bolventor on Bodmin Moor. Our ETA should be from around 15:30hrs.

The journey is expected to take about one hour and twenty minutes and will cover just under forty miles. It is advisable to take on fuel before departure, as we will be heading in to the Great Unknown!
