Spring & Early Summer 2017
The Trent Group AGM held on 6th April 2017 at The Seven Oaks Inn was attended by thirteen members. Ian Viles provided a verbal report and thanked members for their support at events in 2016/17. Information about the organisation and funding of the Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show was distributed. Ian was re-elected as group leader and Barry Pochin as treasurer / assistant.
Twelve cars, including nine TRs, and twenty-three people gathered on The Novotel car park at M1 J25 on Drive-it-Day. Conrad Hunt came to see us off and undertook barrier duty as we set off! Our target was the spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire for lunch via a meandering cross country route, devised by Barry and Joan Pochin, taking in Belper, Ashbourne and Waterhouses.
Following a mid-morning coffee stop at the Cottage Kitchen Café we took the B5053 towards Onecote and Warslow through the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. We all arrived at Buxton at lunch time as planned – no break downs and for the first time in recent memory the group didn't manage to shake off their leader during the journey! We lunched together at the Pavillion before going our separate ways to enjoy the attractions of the Pavilion Gardens and town.
Eight of the group displayed their TRs at the Nottingham Autokarna on 4th June 2017 and other members joined us during the day for a natter and refreshment provided by Steve Brough. This event, organised by the Pre-War Austin Seven Club, is staged in the grounds of Wollaton Park and amongst the biggest shows in the Trent area with over 750 vehicles on display including twenty car club stands.
An events update distributed by email or by post on request from Ian Viles. The Group has email addresses for less than 50% of members in the area – please get in touch if you want to be added to the list – your address will not be shared with anyone else & the email update is sent 'blind carbon copy'.
