Winter 2016

Winter 2016

The highlight of the Trent Group 2016 season was attending and helping to run the 4th Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show staged on and around Ilkeston's historic market place. The Trent Group again took pride of place in front of the Town Hall. Over 250 vehicles attended – classic cars, motorbikes, buses, military vehicles, lorries, tractors and steam engines.

The early doors volunteers were treated to the sight and sound of an Alvis Sabre light tank roaring into a deserted market place at 6 a.m.It didn't stay deserted for long though. By 8.30 a.m. the main market place area was almost full with over 100 vehicles including five classic ex-Barton buses parked in front of the Cenotaph recreating the scene from the 1970s.

Local business TecQuipment sponsored the Historic Sportscar Trophy. The prize was awarded by TecQuipment managing director Simon Woods to Dave Earp and his TR3a.

Recent monthly meetings have been good humoured as usual with a mixture of friendly banter and mechanical chat. Our January meeting was attended by TR Register chairman Paul Hogan – we certainly rolled out the red carpet and Trent Group stalwart Frank Richardson bought him a pint, or should I say "bought him almost a pint"!
