Red Rose Bulletin - March 2018

FEBRUARY MEETING

Despite some rather inclement weather conditions our February Events meeting at The Hazel Pear Inn was extremely well attended with two TR'S braving the snow and rain. The owner Paul made us all very welcome and it proved a great alternative venue. There were some issues with ordering the food which will be sorted for the 18th March meeting.

We have lots of events planned, with a very full calendar, including Drive it Day, TR Fest, Autumn leaves, runs after the monthly Sunday meets, all the regular events and some new events plus the return of the Thursday runs. There will be more details of all our runs and events on Red Rose Facebook page and the TR Register Red Rose website.

There was one new member and one returning member so a warm welcome to Matt and Colin who are welcome join us for future meetings and maybe come along on one of our runs.

MARCH MEETING AND PHOTOGRAPH COMPETITION 12.30pm 18th March at The Hazel Pear Inn, Acton Bridge, CW8 3RA

Whilst the Antrobus Arms is being refurbished, with the help of Gordon and Hazel Bayley, we have been fortunate to secure the use of a private function room at the Hazel Pear Inn, Acton Bridge, CW8 3RA.

The Hazel Pear is only a couple of miles from the Antrobus Arms, there is a large car park to accommodate everyone and food and drink is available. Hopefully the weather will improve for our next meeting and there will be a good selection of TR's in the car park for everyone to enjoy.

Our March meeting will include the photograph competition which proved to be a very popular event last year with a full house at the Antrobus Arms enjoying a varied selection of member's photographs, old and new featuring members and their cars.

We very much hope that this year's competition will be as well attended. We have already received quite a few entries but we still need lots more of you to send in photos of your beloved TR'S. Can you please only send two photos per person or four per couple and if you can say where and when it was taken along with a suitable caption that would be much appreciated. Don't worry if you can't attend the meeting all entries are welcome.

Send your photos to Jonathan or Caroline at trredrose@hotmail.com and remember you don't have to attend the meeting to enter the competition so you could still be a winner!

Drive It Day Sunday 22nd April

Our first run of the year will be on Drive it Day 22nd April to Crich Tramway Village, home of the National Tramway Museum. For anyone who hasn't been to the museum this is a must see attraction with lots of activities. There are places to eat including The Red Lion Pub, a period sweet shop, workshops, walks and the ability to ride the trams. The Tramway museum is providing a dedicated display area for the cars with free entry for the car driver and a discounted group rate of £10.50 for passengers.

Routes are already completed and for those who want to join us there is the option of a roast dinner on the way home. The museum is looking forward to seeing us on the 22nd April and they have already posted pictures of Red Rose cars on their events pages. All register members are welcome to join us for what promises to be an enjoyable day with pleasant runs through the Derbyshire countryside. Further details will be available shortly on the TR Register Red Rose website, Red Rose Facebook page and at the March meeting.

TR Fest is back for 2018!

TR Fest will be back on Saturday 4th August at the Antrobus Village hall. Format will be similar to the 2016 event which proved to be very popular. More details will be released in the coming months but we would ask members to start collecting donations for the tombola and raffle. We will also have the TR Spares bring and buy stall so get rummaging in your garages for any of those old parts or tools you may want to sell.

Car Fest 2018 27th – 29th July Bolesworth Estate

After the success of last year Andrew Haywood has kindly offered to organise this year's event. Entry forms are now available and early entry is strongly advised due to the popularity of the event and also the significant reduction in the entry cost compared to entry for day visitors, assuming you can get a ticket. Email Andrew Haywood at Brydon38@aol.com for details or email Jonathan / Caroline at trredrose@hotmail.com for an entry form.

TR Register Red Rose Website

Anyone who hasn't yet registered for TR Register updates of all Red Rose social scene / events should look at Phil Moss's post on the TR Register Red Rose website which explains the simple procedure for registering and also for anyone who doesn't want to receive updates how to opt out. We would however strongly recommend that all members take advantage of the service and register as it is an excellent way to be kept up to date of all the latest news without having to regularly check the website or the Facebook group.

To find Phil's post go onto the TR Register web site home page www.tr-register.co.uk click on Local Groups at the top of the page, select Red Rose from the map or list of groups at the bottom of the page, Click on Social scene at the top of the page and scroll down to Phil's post titled Local Group Website Notifications. It will only take a few minutes and it is well worth doing.

Pill has also been busy setting up a member's car section on the website which was something that was requested at this year's AGM and events meeting.
