TR Action 291 Report
Jane Edwards reports: "Our Drive it Day Run began at the Chocolate House Cafe in
Pentrefoelas. Thankfully the weather was dry with some sunshine but still cold, so all
wrapped up with roofs down! A good turn out with a mix of 24 cars - TRs, MGs, Jaguars,
TVRs, a Porsche 914, Ford Capri and even aVW Camper Van Welcome to new member James,
with his young son Ryan who had the honour of sounding the claxon to get everyone's
attention and the convoy rolling. We hope to see them again at future meetings and
runs. We set off on our route which had been organised by Graham, stopping for lunch at
Llyn Trawsfynydd cafe. If any of you TR'rs are ever in the area this cafe is a must to stop at,
check out the web site www.trawslake.com.
The food was excellent with home-made cakes and chips! Beth, who runs the cafe, was
very accommodating as initially we told her that we may have about 20 people calling for
lunch/drinks but this ended up with more like 40.
En route, we held a fun observation quiz with a bottle of wine for the winner. Our run
ended at The Rhug Estate where members had a cuppa and browsed around the shop
while the quiz was marked. Outright winners were Phil and Janet who got all the questions
correct: your turn to do it next year!
Our May monthly meeting was well attended at The Griffin but there were few TRs
due to a bad weather forecast, only Harvey and Phil braving it.
Sadly last year we lost one of our younger members, Warren Mcilveen
who was a regular member with his son William in his black GT6. A painting of his GT6
had been organised by Patrick and Caroline and this was presented to William at the
meeting. Thanks to Patrick and Caroline for organising a really lovely painting, and to all
those who contributed.
At the end of June a group of us will be going to Malvern for our usual 'Wales
Weekend' when hopefully the weather will warmup.
Anyone wishing to go on the trip to Scotland please contact Geoff for further
details.
Happy motoring:'
