TR Action 292 report
Late May Bank Holiday Monday saw the annual Prestatyn Car Show held just off the High Street and more vehicles than ever this year. A lovely hot and sunny day saw a couple of our members attending the show with their TRs. Polly picked up a prize for her TR3A in the sports car class.
Our June meeting held at the Griffin was well attended with a mixture of 11 cars. Welcome to 2 new members Andy Browne in his 1972 pimento TR6 all the way from Welshpool and a little closer to home Les Hughes in his red TR4A, hope to see you both at our future meetings. After the meeting as it was such a glorious day a group of us went on a run to Llyn Brenig and stopped for our usual tea and cakes in the lakeside cafe. Highly recommended for any visitors, beautiful views and setting.
Friday 24th June saw a group of us setting off for our annual weekend away this year to Great Malvern staying in the Abbey Hotel, excellent hotel, food and staff. We met at Morton Garden Centre in Chirk, some arriving early for breakfast, setting off at 10.30 for Malvern. The weather wasn't too kind to us with isolated horrendous downpours which resulted in roofs up pronto. En route we stopped at Ludlow Food Centre for refreshments. We enjoyed runs out to Ledbury, Upton on Severn and Hay on Wye, taking in the jazz festival at Upon on Saturday which was brilliant. Thanks to Phil and Janet and Peter and Polly for organising. We also enjoyed a trip around the Morgan factory which was very interesting even for us ladies and thanks to Geoff for organising this. A surprise quiz - 'stars and their cars' was organised for the Saturday evening, winners being Geoff and Pauline. Some very interesting answers, Malcolm Jones on form as usual !! Despite the weather the weekend was great and enjoyed by one and all.
Our July meeting coincided with the Llangollen Classic Transport Weekend, 3 cars were there on Saturday with 6 on the Sunday. Sunday proving to be the best day weather wise with glorious sunshine. Welcome to new members Paul and Cath Bond who have just joined the Register and the North Wales group. Really good day out for all those who enjoy a bit of steam!
