TR Lincs June 2017 Social Scene Report

TR Lincs June 2017 Social Scene Report

Welcome to our June Newsletter

What fantastic good weather we have had over the last few days, let's hope it continues for a few more days and maybe even a few weeks. Lots of you have been out and about in our cars and either attended TR Lincs events or other events or in some cases both. As we roll on into summer there is plenty to do and events to look forward to. As always I'll give you a quick review of the events since the last newsletter and a heads up on those coming along in the next few weeks.

Before that though I'd like to make you aware of a fund raising event that Celia Dawson is getting involved with to raise funds for the "Fighting Blindness RP" fund by walking the West Highland Way in Scotland this August – a sterling effort and worthy of your support. Full details are contained within Celia's letter which you can read by clicking here or alternatively go to Celia's page on the Just Giving Website available by clicking here. We all wish Celia the very best in her endeavours.

So what have we been up to since last time then?

Tour of Lincs 100 – 14th May

There was good TR Lincs representation on this year's TOL100 which saw the now famous 100 cars set off from the Golf Club at Woodhall Spa covering 100 miles to end at Navenby for cream tea. A lunch stop at Uncle Henry's at Grayingham just added to the delight of this well organised run. You can see all the action on our Flicker page by clicking here.

TR Lincs Run – May 21st

Another great day for the weather saw us gather for our May run courtesy of Martin and Hilary Farley gathering at Goltho Gardens near Wragby for the start of a very pleasant and well orchestrated run through the wolds. A bonus was an ad-hoc stop at the Blacksmith's Arms, Rothwell for "refreshments" where we were joined by a number of vintage tractors on a run out as well. After another pleasant run towards the west of the county we all ended up at chez Hilary and Martin's for an extremely generous lunch provided by our hosts. Once again all is revealed if you click here on our Flickr page.

Spalding and East Elloe Run - June 11th

Once again a superbly organised run by the S&EE club in fantastic weather. A number of TR Lincs members again took part in this run which departed from Spalding Golf Club heading north to stop at the Branston Hall Hotel at Bracebridge Heath for lunch ending in front of the spectacular Belvoir Castle where the Duke of Rutland welcomed all the participants and presented various prizes. Another good day and once more TR Lincs was well represented. If you'd like to see some pictures of the day then these are available by clicking here. See if you can spot the TR Lincs cars!

Up and Coming

We've still got plenty to come for the rest of the season but there's always room for more. We still have opportunities for you to organise a monthly run for September, October or November. Have a go, you'll enjoy it. Here's some of the events to look forward to.

RAF Scampton - June 25th

Looking forward to this visit to the Heritage Centre at Scampton just one week before the Scampton Air Show takes place. For the 20 that have already let me know you're attending as I write this I haven't heard back from the Scampton organisers yet what security details they need from us. Once I know I will contact you all separately for the information and details of the visit timings.

TR Lincs Tour of Northern Ireland - June 25th _ July 2nd

Once again TR Lincs sets off on an intrepid tour this time to Northern Ireland. Those that are going will already have had details from our own tour guide, Derek Pywell and will no doubt be getting ready to venture across the Irish Sea.

International Weekend, Malvern July 7th _ July 9th

Back at Malvern for 2017. If you are intending to go along then please let me know as I and a few others will be spending the weekend on site and would like to catch up with you. If you can't make it then don't forget next year is at Lincoln! Put the date in your diary now, June 29th – 1st July 2018.

All that remains for now is for me to wish you good motoring and I hope to see you out and about on our events over the next few weeks.
