November Report
Dave McD still swinging.
Our Intrepid racer Dave McDonald raced his TR6 at Oulton Park on 26th September in the CSCC Swinging 60's series. Qualifying 5th overall and fastest TR from 7 TRs in a field of 38 cars he went on to lead part of the race before being pipped by a very rapid Ginetta and eventually claimed 2nd overall in the 40 minute race and was only some 7.4 seconds behind the leader and averaged nearly 77mph over 6 lap 16 mile race.
The October Run
Halloween saw probably the strangest run we've done for a while. We started on a damp misty morning at Doddington Hall joined by a very nervous Mathew Lambkin-Smith accompanied by Neil somewhat overdressed for our normal TR bash. The reason of course was that the run was to form part of the celebration of Mathew's marriage to Sarah later that day.
Eight cars then set off led by "speedy"McDonald on a great route prepared by Sarah taking us through villages along the western edge of the county, over the top of Lincoln via Market Rasen and back down the east of Lincoln via Wragby, Bardney and finally our destination at theWashingborough Hotel, Washingborough.
The reason was of course to give Mathew and Sarah a TRiffic send off into married life. Some of us then returned later that evening to enjoy a murder mystery Halloween themed wedding celebration - very alternative! I'm sure you'll wish the new Mr.& Mrs. Lambkin-Smith every happiness.
Looking ahead to 2016
I know it seems a long way off but judging by the amount of Christmas stuff in the shops, it won't be long.
Next year brings the International Weekend on to our very own doorstep. A lot of work has already been done in securing Lincoln Showground, booking entertainments, sorting catering and arranging a number of special events. More work is of course needed as we get nearer to the date. We hope that the Lincoln IWE will be the best that there has been for years and people will remember their visit . Put the weekend in your diary now 15th, 16th and 17th July.
Monthly Runs
There are already a few runs proposed for next year but we need more. If you have an idea for a run or even a weekend/overnight run somewhere then share it and better still organise it. The runs are really the mainstay of the group as it allows us to drive our cars, enjoy each others company and sometimes enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. So come on let's hear from you, it really is a great way to meet fellow members. Look out for the 2016 events calendar soon as well as on the TR Register Lincolnshire Group website page.
Annual Holiday
September 2016 will see another holiday run organised by Derek Pywell this time to Vannes in Brittany. The trip departs Sunday 25th September from Portsmouth overnight to St. Malo ending at the Best Western Le Roof Hotel in Vannes.
