Fantastic Leicestershire TR Group weekend away in Bournemouth.

Fantastic Leicestershire TR Group weekend away in Bournemouth.

Tony & Ruth organised a great weekend for LTRG in Bournemouth on 13th to 15th October. The route was meticulously planned and sent out in pictograph form using a variety of single carriageway routes. The hotel was selected and excellent rates negotiated.

Most folks set off on Friday morning and met up just outside Towcester and after a caffeine fix, set off to a prearranged (mustn't go hungry) lunch stop. Other members set off even earlier to meet up with Chris & Jacky Hale for lunch with them en route. After lunch, both groups pressed on to the seaside and checked-in into the Best Western Hotel only 200m from the East Cliff.

Tony & Ruth had arranged for us all to eat at an Italian restaurant a short walk from the hotel. We all ate our fill in a very lively atmosphere and were able to take note of the local dress code, obviously the briefest was the order of the day.

After a 'full English' or ' healthy ' if preferred, we all set off to Corfe Castle via the chain ferry from Sandbanks to Studland.

We stopped for coffee and a walk along the headland to check out Old Harry and his wife. Being made of Portland stone they were still there, but its good to check up. The group then spilt up for the afternoon, some checking out Corfe Castle, the others consuming National Trust spiced pumpkin scones etc. and topped that lot off with ice cream, well, we were on holiday!

So, back to the hotel, where we had noticed that amazingly, some of our group had occupied the first floor front rooms with balconies along the front. As it was a Golden Wedding Weekend for Reg & Irene, Andy & Claire had arranged a special cake so we had a pre dinner 'Drinks Party' TRying out the balconies! It's amazing how many bottles can be emptied in such a short time, obviously thirsty work relaxing!

Our chief organiser had again arranged dinner for us, this time at the hotel – great, not got to walk or drive! So we all TRipped downstairs and occupied our area of the dining room. Group photo time with the celebratory couple in the centre holding a bottle of champagne that had been organised for them both. Spot on!

The following morning after 'full English' it was decision time for the days activities. Motor Cycle Museum, Beaulieu Motor Museum, or the Russell-Coates Museum in Bournemouth.

We all went to our individual choice of museum after which most folks set off for home. A couple of us stayed an extra night which involved yet another 'full English'.

An excellent weekend for LTRG, well arranged by Ruth & Tony who have been appointed to arrange another one next year!

P.S. Irene adds: We would like to thank all our lovely friends who made our Golden Wedding anniversary so special..from the Flowers..Cards..Cake and Company...everything was truly wonderful and very much appreciated by us and our family..Love. Reg..Irene..
