Kennet Valley TR Group supports Newbury Classic show in aid of Bloodwise on a rare sunny day in August

7 Kennet Valley TR Group member cars and 11 members supported the West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Clubs 25th Annual Classic Vehicle Show In aid of Bloodwise. The Kennet Valley TR Group has always been a strong supporter of this event.

In the seven car display, located again next to our friends at the local TSSC stand, were two 'famous' Triumphs, one Emrhys & Linda Barrells Stag which appeared in an episode of the BBC's Ashes to Ashes and a 'baddies' car and (my) Phil Horsley's Grinnall TR8 2+2 who drove Max Verstappen - Red Bull F1 driver and future World champion on the British Grand Prix this year, both these cars along with the other KVG members created much interest among the crowds and fellow classic owners alike. Hundreds (in excess of 700) of classic cars, bikes, military were on display as well as the usual auto-jumble stands and booths selling wears, took up most of the show ground which amply supported the vehicles despite some rain sodden areas that were roped off for safety.

Due to the rather unusual sunshine for August 2017, large crowds attended the show enjoying viewing the classics, stalls and of course the food and obligatory ice creams. The KVG Event tent proved really useful as a sun shade for members and visitors and of course ideal for sitting together for a natter and some lovely cake from Karen Woolnough.

2017 was the fourth year for the shows new permanent home at Newbury College. Their donation to Bloodwise in 2016 was £12,188 – thanks to the record number of visitors and exhibitors on the day. This brings their total donation from the show to over £128,000 and of course it is hoped that will have been beaten this year, we'll know very soon.

Thank you as always to everyone for your continued support!
