DAVE RUMENS WRITES:-

Since our last report KVG has had a busy time over the summer months. On July 19th we had a fantastic day at the Spinnaker Tower and were well looked after by the Spinnaker staff. Six of our cars parked at the base of the tower, we had tea and cakes in the Waterfront café whilst watching Ben Ainsley practising in the Solent for the Americas cup. The superb run there and the excellent return trip back up the A32 was organised by John Edmonds, Eddie Mace and Den Carter.

Over the weekend 7th/8th/9th August there were two events. The first of course was the IWE at Malvern which we attended in force. There we met up with many old friends from other groups. The highlight for Jill Horsley was her trip in a TR7 driven at speed by Adrian Flack around the Auto-gymkhana raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance. Well done Jill. Three members decided to have garage clear-outs and dispose of all those greasy bits. Bill Bourne, Paul Woodham and Joe Douthwaite were kept busy all day get rid of their unwanted stuff. Everybody in the KVG enjoyed this year's IWE and thanks must go to all those who made it possible.

On the 9th August eight cars attended the Newbury Classic Vehicle Show. As this is in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Fund it is always well supported by our group. Our stand was next to the TSSC Newbury Area cars so the Triumph marque had a good presence. As a number of us are in both clubs there is always good banter going on. I had my TR7 on our stand and my Vitesse on the TSSC. The total number of classic cars at the event this year has been estimated as eight hundred and the money raise for the fund was around £10,000.

Moving on to what is happening in the future: after the success of last year's KVG Christmas party we have decided to return to the Wroxton House Hotel, near Banbury. Though the main bash is on the Saturday evening why not make a weekend of it by arriving on the Friday afternoon and leaving on the Sunday morning, 15th to 17th January 2016. By the time you read this Karen Woolnough will be taking £50 deposits. The Saturday 16th – 3 course meal, wine, coffee, disco and B&B on the Sunday 17th morning will cost £142 per couple. If you include Friday 15th, no evening meal but B&B on Saturday morning, the total will be £216. Please note the full payment will be required at the November meeting. Don't miss the party.
