TR Register Cumbria Group,
"Si fractum non sit, noli id reficere"
Greetings Cumbria Group,
Well then we are off! up and running for 2017, our full programme is enclosed
and already I'm starting to become excited at the prospect of what's to come.
Firstly though I must say some very big thank 'You's!'
To Anne and Jim for hosting Lunch at their house in January, and thus making a cold, dank winters day bright and cheery.
.......and further thanks to Anne for completing the AGM minutes in double quick
time, - any one want a copy - just ask,
To Chris and Viv. who stepped in at very short notice to host our AGM, when Brian Pugh advised that our usual venue, The Windermere Hydro, was being renovated.
To Graham Coid, who transformed our cumbersome stainless steel prep tables used for our Fort William Expedition into excellent compact folding items, and at both his own time and expense, so cheers Graham.
To Jim McVey, Ken Wilson Peter Bonsall and yes me! who collectively organised the
inspection, photographing, marketing and subsequent sale of Peter Willertons TR6, and to the absolute delight of his widow Judith.
To Mark Sindle who quietly goes about the task of completing our CG Website within the TR Registers pages, a job that I certainly wouldn't tackle for a pension, and you will find our full 2017 programme there, before you have a chance to read this newsletter.
.......and of course to everyone else who is involved in Organising/Hosting or Advising on an event this Cumbria Group 2017 year
As regards our programme, take a look, excellent varied stuff, a mix of the best of the old with some new, and once again Cumbria Group will not be going hungry in 2017.
I thought our New Years Day Outing was excellent, and have included the same in this programme.
Take a look at everything, do your planning accordingly, we'll have another great year.
So, in these sometimes difficult days with suppliers, whilst running our cars, I am very happy to report on three examples of first class 'Old fashioned' customer service,
J and D Holliday, Scotby, Carlisle. 01228 591303,
Auto Electricians who do a while-u-wait rebuild for very competitive money. - Rex was impressed.
K and S McKenzie. long established Motor Factors, Kingstown, Carlisle, who are prepared to spend the time and effort to satisfy amateurs such as me, asking what must have been obvious questions, they keep the best of stock, 3M body products Ferodo brake fluid etc., they are my first port of call now.
...and Car Paint Liverpool, Tel 0151 259 8484 ask for Stephen, took the trouble to make and post me a swatch of Triumph Silverstone Grey, when at first they could find no trace, I thought this was worth reporting.
At the AGM, it was decided to mark our Groups Silver Anniversary with a celebration at Ken and Christine's Afternoon Tea in August, together with a suitable cake, Thank You once again Christine, and also to arrange some suitably embroidered Sweatshirts.
These shirts to follow our corporate colours of dark blue with gold thread, and showing the CG TR logo, and lettered, '25th anniversary, 1992 - 2017'
Cost per sweatshirt thus embroidered is still just £15.00 per item.
It is customary to order a shirt one size larger that you normally buy, i.e.
if you buy Large, go to XL, etc.
Orders to me please A.S.A.P. and I'll organise.
Still a place for Stoneliegh, if you know a 'Triumph' person who might tag along.
... and we still plan an IRS Car, Hub Rebuilding Day, at mine sometime soon, let me know if you are interested in coming.
Appleby Rotary Club Charity Run Saturday May13th, application forms from Neil Marland, or me.
CLM 2018, July 6th - 8th. now 2018 is the 60th anniversary of Ken and Christine's Peerless, running at and completing the Le Mans 24 hours race, and whilst we wouldn't go to the 24 hours again - kind of been there done that situation, we are looking at going to Classic Le Mans next year. As its a long way for us Northerners to even get to the channel, thought is we will combine this with something else, possibly a repeat of our 2012 trip to Italy, staying in St Moritz, and 'Doing' the Italian passes,
albeit a little more leisurely next year than in 2012.
Now this is very early stages, and this is little more than thinking out loud yet, but I need to start somewhere, so can I ask an member who MIGHT, be interested in this, and who would wish to be kept informed as to progress, to let me know, No commitment as yet whatsoever, but I want to create a dedicated mailing list for info/feedback on this.
Two points to make straightaway, the trip will be all, budget type hotels, there are no plans to camp, even at Le Mans, and any member is welcome to take the basis of our trip and trim to suit themselves, e.g. Peter and Daphne in 2012, 'Did' Italy with us, and then as we headed for France, they went Down to Lake Garda for a stay, anyone can dip in or out of our eventual itinery as they wish.
So let me know if you want to be included, we are very likely to bring along some of the Peerless Crowd as well.
Attached/enclosed is our complete 2017 programme, should you want hard/extra copies - no problem, or indeed if you have questions etc.,
please - just ask.
