  1. Yes whatever you do dont take your foot off in a corner with a Porsche as they will just swap ends and throw you into the scenery. Stuart.
  2. Tried it and its close but no cigar Im afraid Richard Crewe Read had a grille done and other parts and it looked OK but obviously not the same shine. Stuart.
  3. Only problem with polishing is you go through the anodising so to maintain the look you do need to keep polishing though a thin coat of a good all weather lacquer might work. Stuart.
  4. Did you Bondarust first? if not then I wouldnt leave it too long in that etch with the amount of damp round these days. Stuart.
  5. Yes as Mick stated I have Dellortos fitted to mine, now running 89mm so I did have to alter the original settings from when it was on 87mm and up to 34 chokes as well, properly set up it will just tootle around at very low RPM in quite high gears but as some of our local group will attest it leaves most standing and will keep with a tripe Webber TR5 up to over the ton. Gets a bit light on the front at 115 It does take a lot of setting up to achieve what you want and unless you are going to actually use the performance then SU`s do a great job anyway. FWIW if anyone is interested I d
  6. Talk nicely to a registered restorer and see what they can do for you, Im sure a handful of folding would smooth the way Stuart.
  7. Thats twaddle you can buy cellulose still full stop, the only reason for not painting a 2020 Audi in it would be that the formula for a match is non existent, however someone like Ken and Lyn paints with a sample panel could tint you the colour from a similar base. For example my version of Triumph Royal Blue that Ive painted quite a few cars over the years in was updated by Ken a couple of years ago to start from a 2018 Aston Martin colour but that still matches with the original colour I started with more than 30 yrs ago. Stuart.
  8. The gap referred to at the front is only for Surrey equipped cars, I think the OP is referring to a convertible capping. Stuart.
  9. What vehicle is it on as if its TR4 on is the column clamp inside the engine bay loose or missing? Items 58/59/60 here https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/steering-suspension/steering/steering-tr4-4a-1961-67.html Stuart.
  10. Doesnt look too bad, a least its complete, go for it Bob, mans got to have a hobby where is it for sale? Stuart.
  11. If the story about it going out with a serviceman is right then I suspect it was never officially exported as he would have been posted and took it with him. I wonder if Saffron TR (Derek) would have any record of it by chassis number to find an original reg number? Stuart.
  12. Do be aware that the new ones arent always a particularly good fit when it comes to the rivet holes lining up, the new Surrey ones also are somewhat lacking on the ends where the stud goes too. Also like John says they do all end up like that eventually as its in the nature of the beast. Stuart.
  13. Surprisingly Ive seen 4a with the distance piece too so it depends on what spring length is fitted. Either way there should be no metal to metal contact so insulators all round. Stuart.
  14. Have a look at the relationship between the top of the "A" post and the bottom of the frame and trim to the one thats the furthest backwards. You might need a little bit of DumDum or similar to just fill any void at the joint. Stuart.
  15. Ultrasonic bath is the best for cleaning that sort of thing. Stuart.
