Overdrive badge

Recommended Posts

This could be a silly question but does anybody have or know where I might get hold of an original TR5 overdrive badge?

I have tried all the usual trade sources without success.

Many thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Original TR5 Overdrive badges are like hen's teeth. Some years ago I had mine stolen at a Triumph event, and set about searching for a replacement.

Most of the repros are the wrong shape (they do not have the cutaway section ... although they still fit) and the lettering is in black rather than the correct cream colour. In the end, I found one with the cutaway section and used an enamel cream paint over the lettering. You might be lucky enough to find an original on Ebay, but people usually want a high price for them. I eventually got an original one that's in reasonable condition for not a lot of money, but I've never fitted it as my painted replacement looks OK.

Good luck with your search.

Cheers, Darren

Have you tried "Pamela David Enamels" at www.badgecraft.co.uk - they were at the London Classic Car show recently and while not cheap, the quality appeared pretty impressive (usual disclaimer, no connection, etc!)

Cheers

TRF in the US have the correct badge in cream. Its listed for TR250 but I am sure it is the same for TR5.

622152/CRM That is a steal at $11.00 + carriage

622152/BLK is the (TRF) TR6 item with black lettering.

My experience has been that TRF items are good quality.

Get it quick at that price. Moss UK will whack you £18.30 for the black lettered one from the TR6.

post-14286-0-14697500-1520606060_thumb.jpgMany thanks for all suggestions.

As suggested by Graeme I contacted TRF, got a reply as soon as they opened.

They very kindly told me that David Manners keep their badges and in order to save money suggested I try them.

Received the badge today, approx. £7 plus the postage - correct colour, fits and looks good!

Result, many thanks again.

Hi Tim

Do you have any contact details for David Manners please, like website or email? I have the black lettering on the TR5 badges so interested.

Best wishes,

Mike
