Agrace
I've just installed a high torque starter while the exhaust and head are off. Once installed, I notice that the blue-insulated wire on the opposite side to the cable terminal is pushed against the block. Is this normal or should there be a bigger gap? Will this cause any issues?
TR 2100
How about a photo to show the problem? Space is very limited and the main problem IMO would be to avoid the exhaust - that is especially difficult with a 4-branch. And don't forget potential problems if brake lines are too close to the exhaust (again, a particular problem with a 4-branch). AlanR
Fireman049
I wrapped my Hi-Torque starter in heat reflective cladding on my 3A. The car is fitted with a four branch manifold which is wrapped with heat insulating tape. Tom. Edited January 22, 2018 by Fireman049
Agrace
Wow, that is tight. I've "invested" in a Phoenix stainless manifold. Looks like wrapping the starter and manifold it is a must, although it will be a shame to hide such a pretty thing.
RogerH
Hi, I have the Phoenix manifold and a Hi-Torque starter. The starter is not wrapped as I think the normal airflow when moving will keep things happy. Very long stationary periods may cause a problem, but I haven't found that. My SS is fitted with the smaller round body fitted upper most Roger
