Overdrive Isolator Switch Positions

Recommended Posts

I think that this gearbox (which has been fitted to my TR3 and worked fine) came from a TR5. The switches seen to be in an odd position. Is this unusual? Perhaps the selector assembly is from a different model. Can anyone shed any light on this?

No more light on it than it is a 4 synchro unit with an A type overdrive.

The threaded hole that can bee seen in the LH side of the top cover is for a reverse light switch. Is there a similar threaded hole on the other side? - could have originally been TR250/5 or 6.

Could have come from Stag or big saloon 2000/2500/2.5 range.....but was not the TR the only car in the Triumph range that used this gearbox to have functioning overdrive on 2/3/4

Peter Taylor drew all the top covers and their switch layouts for the Moss TR6 catalogue. These were drawn from boxed NOS samples that Moss once had. Plus of course input from Pete Cox, who did all the text of that section. This info is still in the printed catalogues.
