Don H in the news

Recommended Posts

Yep, Stan, I sent a copy of the book to Runyan. His company supplied a lot to my restoration, and Charles as a former librarian loves books.

He's boosted the idea of us owners telling the story of our cars in a way that will outlast our ownership. Scrapbooks, things like that blurb.com book, whatever. It'll make the cars so much more interesting when the backstory is known to the owners downstream.

Here's where we talked about books about our cars on here:

Hi Don ~

How can we buy a copy of your book?

Tom.

Enjoy the preview, Tom. Blurb does very nice work, but that book (in the large format used) is really too expensive for anyone but the car's owner!

That's a gift from the guy who heads the Goodwood Road Racing Club. It's the symbol of Methuen, the "house" they put me into for the Members Meetings. They normally run those stickers on the cars at the MM as there's an English public school theme of competing for points. They're not a souvenir for sale, but Alan was kind enough to give me a few of them. It's there for fun here in mid-America, where nobody has any idea of those things.

Here's an example of one of the cars during the racing last March:

Stan, It seems to me that you have the book on your TR3A in your files. And nice work, Don H.

Tom

I cobbled together something just before the 2016 British Invasion as a quick way to show people some of the resto pictures. I had it printed at the local Walgreens for around $8 with a coupon. Not bad for a hard cover book with around 20 pages.

Ha! Nice story. I expect you get asked that all the time :-)

In fact, Tim, almost never! As I said, people here in mid-America have no idea about those kinds of things.

I do, on the other hand, often get asked about the wire wheels. There's an entire generation of young kids who have never seen such a thing.

Seeing as it's pantomime season over here - 'Oh no it isn't!'

It's a great book and I'm glad I have a copy.

You're so far in a minority of one, Roger! But thanks for being the sole person who's clicked "buy" so far. Maybe I should have added some profit to my blurb bookstore listing? ... I'll bet Raymond did! What about your book?

What about your book?

Sold a few Don, mostly to my mum who bought them for my siblings for their birthdays. Not sure how pleases they were about that!

One has sold to someone else - not sure who. I did have it at the TR International last time we were at Harrogate and my car was in the Concourse event. Someone came up and expressed an interest in it and took details. Not sure if it was them that bought it.

Great book Don with nice detail, I'm working on a Blurb book for my 76 Kawasaki Z900 and then one for Saffy with a little lot of help from a good friend...............

Cheers

Hi Don

I noticed whilst reading this thread the lovely colour photo of your TR3B.

The light balance is just right to show off its profile and colour perfectly.

I then glanced at your profile photos and noticed the TR250, another lovely looking car I thought until I read the headline! What a pity it was broken up, but was it accident damage or tin worm ? Either way I'm sure you'd like to roll back the years! What's the story behind this one?

Regards

Kevin

You need to give that friend a severe kick and tell him to get his finger out and make a start!

Thing is he's getting old, so any form of physical extraction would be a shock to his system..........

As for paying him more, he's doing it for the fame! :)

Cheers

I did see it briefly but spent most of the weekend under the green TR3. Will look closely next time. Tom
