It's been 10 years or more; I said I'd wait for retirement. I can't remember the TR group's name, but, I'd think some might remember me as some seemed hostile. They seemed to be more 'email' or listserv, whereas, ya'll are more web- which I like. The big thing (I think) it that I am in the states (Georgia) and maybe ya'll are more European. Subtle difference's, but different still. How does one decide which forum to take part in?

Thanks, Paul Dorsey 60 TR3A

Hi Paul,

welcome back,

You have a TR3A so the TR2/3/3A forum would suit you technically. The TR4/4A forum uses the same engine so join in the fun there as well.

Issues with fuel and oil cover all the cars so why not scan through all the car forums.

At the Bar can be quite exciting if you don't get too involved. Some good humour to be had.

The Members chat area is for club members - that tends to be club sensitive things.

We have quite a few US members on all the forumnia

Welcome back Paul.

We have a few North American / Canadian members using the forum.

As well as posting on you tube.

I have a 3a as well but I keep an eye on most of the forums as there is a big cross over in cars and a massive amount of knowledge on the forum.

Now you have dipped a toe into the forum world Dive in and enjoy the fun.

Was this forum ever a listserv? I didnt think so. You might be thinking of Mark Bradakis's Triumphs list (which is still a listserv...)

This is a good community. Approach it the right way (and consider joining the Register) and you'll be made to feel most welcome.

Yes, yes, yes,.. it was Mark Bradkis listserv that clued me it, however, I never knew why they didn't switch over to something like this to enable pictures.

I do remember being made fun of when I asked a dumb technical question so I didn't ask why they didn't want something better. The only issue with this group is that most members are 'across the pond'. I think I've joined this group, so, go easy on me. I tend to go for the 'quick-and-dirty (cheap) type of repair rather than 'what's proper'. Hope that won't chafe you chaps!

Thanks for letting me in... Paul in GA

Paul,

It's not just a matter of upsetting anyone, more that

there is some kind of implied responsibility attached

if you a Heath Robinson type repair is recommended.

Welcome Paul!

I knew nothing when i joined this forum, next to nothing now so thats progress!

Ask whatever questions you like, but also use the search facility as so much has been covered already that tou can often find your answer instantly with a search.

Many a time I have gotten dirty finger prints on my ipad due to an unforseen issue on my TR6!

Hi Paul,

this is a broad church, we have all sorts of standards of cars, and all sorts of standards of skill . . . .. or lack of !

Some folks can afford to have everything done by the book to the nth degree of perfection, others of us have to rub along bodging and nudging on a minimalist budget . . . . . and none of that creates a problem to anyone.

We just need to stay within the reasonable margins of safety rather than cutting corners in silly fashion, and this here community is really good at achieving that . . . . with a little help from friends you haven't yet met ! :D

Cheers

Alec

Hi Paul,

a friend of mine, when not knowing the answer, would say ' my colleague would like to know......and then ask a dumb question'

There are no dumb questions only dumb answers. Ask away.

I've asked some crackers in the past.

regarding cheap and cheerful repairs. Like all repairs there are different quality levels - cheap and cheerful is the same.

If it does what you want in a safe secure manner then go for it.

Think twice about brakes and steering though.

Roger
