irrational
Hi again. I am trying to reroute what I think is the overdrive electrics, since it seems to be using the hole that should belong to the temperature gauge. This needs to be fixed so that I can fit the proper gauge correctly and clean up the engine bay a little. In the attached photo you can see there is an electrical cable coming from the gearbox (next to the braided hose), going through the bulkhead where the capillary tube should go. The existing tube one goes through where nothing should go through. So the question is, how should that electric cable actually be routed? I guess its the overdrive since it attaches to a a round cylinder on the gearbox. Dirk
Fireman049
Hi Dirk ~ Is this of any help to you? None of my overdrive wires goes through the bulkhead. Tom. Edited November 13, 2017 by Fireman049
stuart
The overdrive loom should exit the gearbox cover on the left hand side of the gearbox cover up towards the front of the cover, you should see a hole with a grommet Stuart.
Lebro
This shows how the temperature pipe should be routed, I don't think the overdrive wired exit the cabin, but run out through the grommet in the gearbox cover as Stuart says, then up the front to the overdrive relay. irrational
Thank you so much Stuart. I believe I spotted the right hole. Low down on the left about 3/4" in diameter. I have no grommet in but I have a set of new general ones since the old ones are all perished. I assume the cable comes through there and then under the carpeting to the front bulkhead where it can go up. Little bit by little bit it gets right. 8) Dirk Edited November 14, 2017 by irrational
EdwinTiben
Dirk, The wiring stays in the cockpit, no routing to the engine compartment. Here's a picture of the overdrive relay on the original location. there are 2 looms visible, one upwards, which heads to the switch on the dash and the power supply, the other one routes to the front of the footwell, behind the carpet and back to the hole in the tunnelcover under the carpet. here's a link to a wiring diagram: http://www.advanceautowire.com/tr24a.pdf
