Another nice job on the TR6 engine:

Rods modified to accept the VW pistons with 17mm pins

Nice small end bearings to extend working length of the rod

and avoid milling the block to suit

Small end without original bearing ready to accept the new bearing.

A little bit of Loctite added to keep all in place

All done, ready to race!

Hi Andreas,

Very nice.

outvof interest: which grade af brass did you use?

I notice that after pressing the bushes in the conrods, you made a kind of spiral groove (but it can be just visual), would this not affect the lubrication film (pressure profile) in the small end bearing?

Just interested to learn.

Best regards,

Waldi

Hi Waldi,

material is CUSn12, much better than original

and better for that purpose than RG7.

Spiral in the inside is no groove , just reflection.

Its gone after final reaming.

Oil hole and its chamfering is missing in that picture

after that a final reaming is done and after cleaning

surface will be very nice. Its shiny like polished what

makes every scratch under flashlight much bigger.
