Hood Closing Handles

Recommended Posts

This might be a daft question but how floppy should the closing handles be when the hood is folded? Just tightened one of the securing screws on the handle because it worked loose but then thought should they be that floppy? Daft question I know but are they all floppy when not secured into the windscreen frame. It's one of those things you don't think to ask when you're out with others.

Hi Adrian,

When you take out the countersunk screw, under the lever, there should be a wavy washer which should take the movement, or some of it..

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Dave from Spain

Thanks for posting - just show the value of the forum. Like you, I had floppy handles, and I thought they were all like that! So, quick trip to Moss on way home today and I now have 2 wavy washers to install over the bank holiday...

Cheers

This thread reminded me to fit the wavy washers i bought ages ago !

No more rattly handles !

I bought the wavy washers when i bought the new front hood seal, fitting that was so fiddly i forgot the washers for a few months.

Hood fits great now :-)

Bit off subject, but can one pop into Moss and is the visit worth it?

Yes they have a shop and its always worth it though your credit card may not think so.

My place of work is only 3 miles from Moss London, so easy for me to drop in - but it is an easy run up the M3 then A316 if you're coming from further afield (like Denmark!). If you want to see what it is like, go to their webpage, click on the Wheeler Dealer at Moss link and watch the video - unfortunately it features the highly annoying Mike Brewer, but shows the shop and warehouse.

Cheers

Steve
