AarhusTr6
Hi Last thing on list before test!! I have an imported TR6 and the front indicator works as follows (wired for Canada/US I guess): 1. Normal driving, no light 2. Lamp lever down one click/two clicks - one filament illuminates permanently 3. Turn indicator - the second filament in bulb flashes So it has two lives, one in circuit with headlamps second in circuit with indicators and an earth. What would you guys say is best for easy work to convert to EU law where its off always and only flashes when indicators are on? Would it be disconnect the feed from headlamp, replace to single filament bulb or can anyone see an easier option? Cheers Rich PS - this is not the one with the mixed orange and white glass but all orange and one bulb only. PPS . on an EU model, whats the point on the tiny bulb ? Daytime running? AarhusTr6
Part 2 Think I found a solution - I have tied back one of the reds from the indicator (ie the one that had them on with lights) and also ran the live from the side running lights to the line which 'flashes'. Seems to work apart from the spare wire in the flasher looking messy. curious on the small bulb though and any other info on this as I put it together. Also noticed rubber boot torn but that's a next season job I think.
peejay4A
So now when you put the lighting switch to position one you only show the red lights to the rear and no lights to the front. I'm not sure that would be legal over here. You would be better to replace the headlights with a pair that have pilot bulbs in them and take the disconnected feed (position 1) to them. That way you'll have parking lights front and rear.

TBH That type of headlight is the norm and you struggle to find ones without, what you do need though is the looms to supply them. Moss do them part number 27H5976 Item 8 here http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/electrical-system/lighting/headlamps-driving-lamps-tr5-6.html Stuart. BlueTR3A-5EKT
The other solution would be to fit a pair of Italian spec post 1973 clear front lenses and source a pair of LED white DRL/Orange indicator bulbs, the ones that switch off the white light when the orange flashes. However... Ital spec lenses are NLS and the LED bulbs would cost more than a pair of headlamps...... Peter W

The Danish TR forum is indicating (excuse the pun) that I need a set of European indicator lamps (amber / white) but that 300 quid from Moss :-(
peejay4A
I wouldn't bother. If you use the headlights with pilot bulbs you could install LEDs and use them as daylight running lights - on my to do list.
Adrian Lawton
I have an ex US car and it had the amber front running lights. I just removed the feed to the 5w bulbs and as it's a late spec car it already had the pilot light in the headlight for the side lights. Never any problems with the MOT.
