(Round) 4 and a half inch speakers fit best. You can buy pre-cut pads that these will fit.

A little box behind the speaker improves a lot.

I bought some nice Pioneers where I liked the

massive metal grill because sometimes its

hit with the feet.

 

Do not expect High Fidelity from them,

they are badly mounted in a bad position.

 

When restoring a car its a good idea to make a box right from pedal box.

The box fills the space in the front wing and allows a high quality speaker

That's done in my car, I fitted JBL 6x9 speakers and a quality 2x50 watt amp which mean it's loud enough and clear enough sound even when travelling at speed.
