rhine
Seems I have a USA cylinder head; 14mm between adjacent sides of adjacent inlet ports. Has PI fuel system. Seems there are options here and understand that availability is limited after nearly 50 years. So, looking for a practical best here, not looking to create a fire breathing monster. Which head should I be looking for, and can anyone suggest a source? Seen the Chris Wittor site with mention of the 2500s head, but none available. Thanks, Richard

rhine
Thanks Conrad, so that's a ...516816, can anyone comment on it's suitability for a 1969 CC wannabe 1969 CP? Good information here @ http://www.triumphclub.co.nz/?page_id=653 Are the port sizes and shapes suitable to get me towards the mythical 150bhp? Would I need to skim? Has anyone been here before and can suggest by how much? Cheers, Richard
Nick Jones
516816 is the head used on CP TR6s, so eminently suitable for your purpose. Does not need a skim. Port shapes and sizes are the same on all the heads except for the weird US market ones (that you already have) and 219016 as used on the 2500S saloon. Nick

rhine
Thanks Nick and Neil. Already have good PI setup, so looks like it's a 516816 for me. Richard
astontr6
Thanks Nick and Neil. Already have good PI setup, so looks like it's a 516816 for me. Richard Hi Rhine, If you go for the 516816 check it carefully for flatness on cyl. head gasket face as they warp and for cracks between valve seats. The later cyl. heads are less prone to these problems. But has your US head already been modified to the UK PI Norm? OR is it the narrow port spacing type? Bruce.. rhine
Bruce. the head I have has no roll pin in the middle below the ports and there is a gap of 14mm between adjacent sides of a pair of inlet ports. Reading the Roger Williams TR6 restoration guide, looks to me like I have a USA head with small inlet ports; no laughing please. Not really sure of what has been done to it if anything. Really need to get the serial number of the head. Thanks for your thoughts. Richard
