The prices are still climbing then!

Recommended Posts

I am always amazed that UK members are still in disbelieve when these prices are asked. Overhere, a 50k LHD TR5 in concours condition would be sold in a heartbeat. Leaving the seller with a thought: "I should have asked more!"

Again, money in the bank doesn't grow; stocks: to unpredictable for many; houses: lot of potential buyers' children have moved out of the house - people start rethinking the size of a family house and move to something smaller and cheaper. That leaves money in the bank.

Times are changing. A TR is a valueable toy nowadays. See the asking prices for a more common TR250...

I was sent details on this car by the previous owner a couple of years ago, but Jasmine is not one of my favorite colours

It looks very nice in the photos, wouldn't be at all surprised if it gets sold quickly.

I reckon it was up for £70k plus last year, do you remember the advert "if carling made TR5's"......

Nicely done, apart from the sills and repro front valance. Not likely to turn a profit for the seller, as it's easy to spend well over that amount restoring even a relatively rust free example. Rare to see an original steering wheel on these.

I'd want to see the hardtop lid.

A deal for a vintage roadster with Alfa Giulia Spiders and Porsche 356 series fetching much more..

And there once was a beer known as Carling Black Label in the US.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom

Yes, we had the same name over here for Carling Lager in the past, I'm sat a Quarter of a mile away from the Brewery that makes it?

We had some cracking TV Ads for it with the catch phrase, I bet he drinks..........

A bit of a thread drift here but all good fun :D

Same car, here's a couple of Photo's the previous owner Tony sent me.

He purchased it about 3 years ago off TR-GB at the NEC and I believe he lived in Jersey.

For that money I'd be wanting a radiator duct.

A 5 only had a small deflector on the left side of the rad.

Looking at those prices, it seems that there is a very cheap TR250 for sale in Scotland... :D :D :D

I've never seen an original, but TRF supplies a pair so both sides get one.

According to the parts book it was listed for the 5 but in practice seemingly only fitted to 250`s. A one owner 5 down here has only 1 on the left side fitted from new.

If its the one sold at the NEC about three years ago by TRGB then I think Pete Moffatt had something to do with it.

Conrad can probably confirm that, or even Pete himself.

It was Peter Moffatt who restored it, I never actually went to see the Car though?

Send Peter a PM I'm sure he will tell you what was done.

Hello All,

Yes this was my car & I spent 2 years doing a total nut & bolt restoration. I sold the car via TRGB to a guy in Jersey. The new owner contacted me & queried some of the expenditure that the car cost ( I record every penny it cost & also do a photographic record of the car ). He said it was time to sell the car because Jersey has a 30mph speed limit. I was shocked & amazed when I saw the car on ebay advertised for 100K I can assure that I didnt get anywhere near that price, but dealers are dealers. It is now more of a realistic price but it has been up for sale for quite a long time so who knows?.

Cheers

Peter
