Do you mean WZX1178RP ? or Moss USA 372-530 They are the same thing. Moss Europe shews low stocks.

Does Moss Europe have any staock sitting on a shelf at any of its branches? ie Bristol or Manchester?? Get the salesman on the phone to check branch stocks or ring the branches direct. They will happily selll to you as it contributes to their sales target....Make sure they touch the thing before you order and pay.

Try Burlen http://sucarb.co.uk/carburettor-kits/rebuild-kits.html

Do the carbs have shaft bushes? If so why not re-bush with AUD 3080 then fit standard sized shafts?

Bush costs GBP 2.86 each from Moss Europe.

Ream to size to suit shaft ?? 5/16" or 0.3125" ?? standard shaft is claimed to be 0.310" CHECK!!!

The suggested running clearance for the shaft is 0.002"

Moss tech pages (that I wrote) in TR2-4A parts catalogue said oversize shafts varied from 0.005" to 0.010" , depending on the oversize batches. Note:- that was a long time ago so things could have changed.

This page claims oversize shafts are 0.320" diameter.

WZX1178RP would be the spindle I need and MOSS inly has one.

The carbs do not have bushes yei and as I know the work from the PI

I would prefer to fit oversize instead.

Little cars seem to have what I like but they are in USA,

they will charge for shipping and tax a lot.

So I will send a mail to southern carbs tomorrow....

Many thanks, will report!

Is this for a HS6 carb application?

Do you own a file, a threading die and a lathe?

If the correct item is not available consider modifying the oversize spindle from H6 carb.

It is too long, and has no thread for the lever clamping nut. Butterfly and diameter is the same.

Its for a HS6 set from a friend, he ordered the parts already.

As there was really a lot of play in the spindles and I have an

adjustable reamer I believe this is the easiest way to make it fit.

I will wait what I will get for repair and report how the story ended.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yesterday the two carbs came for a visit.

Nice oversize spindles had been delivered via Heuten Autoteile from MOSS UK.

Outside diametre was 8.12mm, rest was as original with two new screws to fit.

I took an adjustable reamer with a M6 thread for the adjusting nuts.

So I could make an extension tube with M6 inside for the front of the reamer.

It is used as a guide for the front hole while reaming the rear hole in line.

Just a quick job, After two hours the new carb spindles work free of play.
