Tie rod end torque setting

Recommended Posts

I've just replaced the passenger side steering rack gaiter and am finishing off. Does anyone know if there's a torque setting for the nyloc nut on the tie rod end, and if so what it is?

Thanks, Darren

P.S. I have looked in the manual, but it's not clear to me which setting relates.

The rod end threads I guess are 3/8 unf as they are tightened using a 9/16 AF spanner.

So, somewhere between 26 and 38 Lbs Ft torque would be suggested by this chart, depending on parent metal type and grade.

...or was it---- up till it sheers then back a flat.?

Lucky I'd only had the one Shredded Wheat, so my "tight as I can" was only about 30 lbs ft anyway.
