carld
Guys Finally got round to putting the gearbox back in and put interior back in etc Went out for a long drive, all good on the gearbox/overdrive front, however developed a misfire after 10 miles or so, pulled the plugs 1 - 5 excellent, however no. 6 very sooty but dry. With it being 6, the last one to get air and given it wasnt wet, I assume that its not getting enough air so plan of attack is to clean air filter (K&N cone), put in new plug, I have checked butterflys and all working as it should. Anything else I should be doing? looking at? I do have the air valve so will be looking at that to All was well initially and before pulling out the gearbox, so a little odd. Kevo_6
Hi Carl Have you checked the injector is not blocked?
john.r.davies
Try running it without the inlet plenum tube and see if the plug goes brown as no air restriction. If not, over fuelling injector or electrical HT misfire. To check that: A/ swap two spark leads around if they are long enough. If no change then reposition all the leads +1 on the dizzie cap, and rotate the dizzie to restore timing, looking for a dizzie cap fault - tracking often invisible unless its been there for ages. B/ swap two injectors, ditto. If no change then ... GoK! Good luck, John

carld
Well, plenum off no change, changed plug no change, swaped leads no change, fitted new dizzy cap, new injector went for a drive, better but not completely cured and then a little cough and way hay, full beans. So not sure what it was really, perhaps not being driven for a while(6 months), old fuel? Thanks again lads
mike3739
Old fuel would be my guess after what you have changed. Cheers Mike
