Wanted push rod

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a good original tubular pushrod for a 4a engine please. Must be the correct 4a one as ones for earlier engines are different.

Hi Stuart,

I'm sure my spares are 4A - how many do you want.?

Roger

That would be great Roger I just need one thats all. 4a ones are beefier at both ends.

How do you identify a good tubular push rod?

Is it wear on the ball/cup, loose cup/ball, should it 'ring' when struck on vice ?

I have half a dexion drawer full of push rods. probably 20 items Should I keep or throw?

TR2/3/3a ones had smaller ball ends and shorter cup ends too. Obviously major wear or loose ends wont help same as major amounts of rust if they have been laying around in the wet. I have also seen a top cup pierced by a repro adjuster that had worn to a point in less than 100 miles!
