Fergy Crank in a TR4

Recommended Posts

Hi Iain,

very good points indeed.

Although it needs to be discussed and decided by people more powerful than me I would suggest the original scroll oil seal should be standard.

The Christian Marx or Rover seal can be added by the owner if they desire.

Balancing should be done before purchase - it would give every body a fighting chance then.

I would have thought if the journals are machined to standard sizes then the supply of standard bearing isn't needed. There is a already great debate over the quality of bearing shells.

Hi Martyn,

that makes interesting reading. I know Rimmers got hold of stacks of body panels but know nothing of engines.

I asked this morning, and Rimmers do not have, nor did they acquire any engines/engine components when they purchased the Indian SD1 stock, which consisted of mostly panels/body parts (and they have a lot of those!)
