Spire clip for heater fan shaft

Recommended Posts

Can anyone suggest a source for the spire clip that holds the heater fan to the shaft of the Smiths heater?

This would be item #5 ( PFS214 ) from

A simple round spire washer is no good as need the dual function of clamping down on the shaft to hold the fan back down towards the motor, but also has to stop the fan spinning on the shaft.

Most Spire Clips I have seen are to support bolt or self tapping applications.

Many thanks, Richard

Thanks both. Mark, think that a traditional star washer will not stop the fan spinning on the shaft. Alan, I think that this is more like it - rectangular so that it fits inside the shallow recess in the plastic fan, and will also grip the motor shaft. Will share what I find.

OK, for anyone who wants to follow in my steps ....

Found them in the UK @ Halfords as No 10 and No 14 'flat nuts' part code HFX116. Was making this more complicated than it need be.
